The people at Soggiorno Antica Torre were absolutely wonderful and very helpful and friendly. I felt like a part of the 'familia' and would definitely stay there again. It was very comfortable and beautiful, and centrally located.
It was just a wonderful place so please extend mille gratzie for my stay here in Firenze.

They charge extra for towels, but the maids take the towels every day. If they just left the towels to reuse, it would be much better and I wouldn't have been charged extra!

Soggiorno Antica Torre was also extremely helpful about storing some of our luggage while we were in Rome for two days before having a return stay at their hotel.
We were there for our wedding and had a number of people staying with us at the hotel, so we were able to see the Gold Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, and the Pink Room. All were great. The Gold Room was beautiful with an amazing view.
We used FlorenceBy.com and RomeBy.com and had an excellent experience at the hotels booked. Everything was above our expectations at each hotel/bed & breakfast. I had previously booked most things though expedia.com or travelocity.com, without great results.

I think it looks slightly quaint and nice on the web site, but is more more detailed and richly decorated in person. The rooms and bathrooms are huge, especially compared to other European hotels. Excellent atmosphere and excellent location. All staff spoke fully fluent English.

If anything, the room was more than we expected. Even the convenience bar was stocked with beverages at reasonable rates. The hotel is very conveniently located in Florence. We would heartily recommend it, especially to first time visitors to Florence who want to be close to all the major churches, palaces and museums.

I would recommend the hotel to anybody travelling to Florence. The rooms are reasonably priced in comparison to the rest of Florence, and you will be staying in a small, friendly hotel with wonderful bedrooms - ask to see the Gold Room (it is vast and the view over the square with the Duomo in the background reminds you of why Florence is one known as of the most beautiful cities).
Basically an amazing place to stay - everything you need and want..

Due to the train strike we arrived a day later than expected (we still paid for the night we missed of course) but everything still went smoothly

The location on Piazza Signoria is absolutely perfect. The place is very small, quiet, elegant and really beautiful. The staff were exceedingly friendly and willing to help us with anything we needed. We enjoyed our stay at better than any other hotel we stayed at in Italy.

Positives: Very central, very quiet, very clean. Attractive high-ceilinged rooms, good shower, friendly English-speaking staff.
Negatives: Double bed is actually twins with a double sheet, so not nearly as comfortable as still somewhat of a crack between beds. Lift only goes to first floor – must carry suitcase down flight of stairs to ground level. Free mini bar (containing a couple of beers and soft drinks, but refrigeration not working) and 'breakfast' (stale brioche, plastic cup of coffee – disappointing) if you pay in cash.

Pamela was always ready to answer our questions about restaurants, local delicacies, good shopping and she provided detailed maps on how to get where we wanted to go. She has organized lots of information about Florence and it was very up to date, making our stay very special.

We arrived late which was why there was nobody available at check in, however we checked in properly in the morning and the staff were very polite and helpful and gave us good advice where to eat, sites to see etc.

My only comment was that when I requested an iron I was told that due to a previous guest who left the iron on and on the bed it was not policy to leave irons in the rooms but once I assured them I would only need for 1 hour to iron all the clothes they were more than happy to oblige.

From the moment we walked in the door we felt like we had stepped into a dream. The room was exquisite and the staff was helpful. The hotel was very quiet. And, we looked out onto the piazza where we watched the fascinating life of the city pass by. I'm so glad I found the hotel on the internet and will definitely go back.

Our stay at the Soggiorno Antica Torre could not have been better. The staff is so friendly, and the rooms were beautiful. We had the Gold room and the Green room, which were more spacious than our other accommodations in Italy, and very well appointed. The Gold room had a wonderful view of the square, and several good restaurants were right next to the hotel. The steps were a bit daunting, but the location and beauty of the place made it worth the effort. We would definitely stay there again.

This was by far the nicest of the four properties we stayed at during our trip to Italy. The receptionist went out of her way to make us comfortable and the three large windows facing the Piazza della Signoria afforded many hours of wonderful people watching. Two thumbs way up!

There are no signs for the hotel, you need to buzz the door. It is a yellow building between two cafes, and on the buzzer is a little name tag for the hotel. They will buzz you in, and you will have to walk up about 2 flight of stairs to the lift.
At first I was a little confused, but it's part of what makes it a quiet, little, special hotel.

Soggiorno Antica Torre was fantastic and my girlfriend and I loved staying there--it was our favorite hotel in Italy. We were so happy we chose it, and I will always stay there when in Firenze. It is a special little place, with charm and class.
Some people might want to know that it is not a full service hotel--the hotel does not have full time staff, portors, a restaurant, or other such ammenities. There are a number of stairs and the hotel is not easily accessible for handicapped or disabled.

Antica Torre is amazingly located in the most popular square in Florence. It is like having a great apartment in the best location in the city.
It is an old tower building, on the 3rd or 4th floor (there is a lift when you have luggage but you will have to walk some stairs). The front rooms look out onto Piazza Signoria with an outstanding view, but they are a little louder. The back rooms look out onto classic Firenze rooftops, but are quiter rooms. (We stayed in back and it was so quiet) The rooms all have different color themes, and are appointed with Medici furniture, spotless bathrooms, and rooms are large with high vaulted ceilings. The staff particularly Pamela, is friendly, warm, and spoke perfect English. It is a great place for a couple in Italy. We found our stay to be romantic, charming, wonderfully located and perfect!

The staff was extremely helpful with making reservations, suggesting tours and offering us advice. If we ever travel to florence again we would not think twice about staying here again.

Tell visitors not to expect a regular hotel, but a stylish house with tastefully furnished rooms. The soggiorno's door can be pretty hard to find if you haven't seen the pic on the web site (which my wife hadn't and she was the first who went looking for the door), so maybe a better description of where the soggiorno frontdoor can be found.

This was an excellent choice -- the location was as central as possible for sightseeing, and the accommodations were extremely comfortable, even for our group of three people.

As described, the accommodation is self-catering (no breakfast), but that is certainly not a problem when your suite is located directly on the Piazza della signoria. The blue suite was just about the largest and most comfortable triple room we had during our whole two-week trip.

We had a very difficult time finding the property as the streets in Florence are confusing and the person waiting for us at the hotel did not speak English (not that they should be expected to speak english, but it all just added to the confusion!) and we do not speak Italian. It is also not easy to see where the hotel is once you reach the piazza. I would suggest more explicit directions on the website, for instance naming the two restaurants that the hotel sits between

We had a nice big, clean tastefully furnished room on the 2nd floor of an old building with very high ceilings. It was literally next door to the Uffizi and walking distance to most attractions in Florence.

They need to be more specific about parking. We drove to Florence and had to find parking on our own even though we asked for specific ideas and directions to a parking garage.

Unfortunately our room backed onto another hostel - the room nearest to us was being used by whining American teenaged girls who, on our third night, were shouting and drinking until 2am. Without any sort of double glazing for sound insulation or someone on reception to contact the other hotel to ask the girls to quiten down it meant that we were unable to get to sleep.

There's no avoiding the first, long flight of stairs so not suitable for those who travel with more luggage than they can carry comfortably!

we were disappointed with the fact that it was a non smoking hotel and a guest was smoking whilst we were there and nothing was done about it. We were disappointed that it was more like an appartment as there was no one in attendance after 4.00pm and no facilities foe tea or coffee...no dining room in fact. Our towels did not smell clean and in fact were soiled on one occasion however even though they were replaced there was no apologly and these towels were soiled in the worst way imaginable.

I was very shocked to realize that there was no receptionist. Actually the door was locked and there was a key code to get in and I did not have the code printed on my voucher. I had to stop a pedestrian and ask them for help so they called the number and talked to the lady. A very big hassle.

The staff was always pleasant, likeable, and very helpful
But in addition to the stairs (see below) but we had to get out of our rooms by 10AM to have them cleaned. This was not a bad problem, just a bother.
There was breakfast included, but it was not good. They would be better off not to offer it.

This was difficult for me because I could not carry a suitcase up that flight of stairs (someone luckily came by and helped me). Also, I have bad knees (I'm 80) and climbing -- and descending -- those stairs was a trial.

The place was great. Roomy enough. The hostess was very nice and helpful. The only complaint I have is that it was extremely noisy outside. We didn't sleep too well because of that, but otherwise it was a pleasant stay. I would recommend it, but, just be warned about the noise.

Getting to one of Florences major Piazzas by car was an experience, then compounded by locating the resdience. I didn't notice or pay attengtion to the direction on the web site (are there any?) so I guess I was looking for a hotel frontage rather than a single door to an apparment block.
So initial impression was 'oh oh....' and the climb with luggage up the dingey stairs was equally disconcerting.
However this was all immediately dispelled by the wram reception from Anna-marie and the lovely rooms.

From your add I expected a large hotel. What we found was more like a pension without the facilites of a 4 star hotel, as we expected. There was no lounge, dining room or other facilities. However the people were pleasant and helpful. The location was fantastic. The room was quiet and clean, as was the bathroom. The only thing that was missing was a sitting area with a lounge chair or sofa.

It would have been helpful to know that the luggage had to be carried up the first flight of stairs.

I asked for a double or queen size bed, not twin beds shoved together. we got 2 twin beds pushed together, which was uncomfortable because they kept sliding apart. not very good for our honeymoon!!
