We decided we did not want a ground floor room and they nicely changed our room. This is an excellent hotel suggested by our friend Mary Savan Wilson, who lives in Aviano and stays there or recommends it to others.
...
If they still do it (did not the night we were there)...note the excellent presentation on Florence they have every other night or so for free. I have been to two and both were informative and just the right amount of time.
...
This is a well - located nice hotel with exceptional staff. The rooms and baths are very good with updates almost every time I have visited1 i.e. I stayed there in Nov in a huge room (half ballroom) with a small bath; returned in April and the room was updated to include a huge new bath and a nice alcove sleeping area in addition to the huge bedroom with a couch!

The hardest part was negotiating the road and pavement works in and around the Piazza Santa Maria Novella! This would cause no problem when completed.
...
Everything was very good, apart from the noise from the streets below. A guide i had seen did state that you should ask for a room away from the street because of the noise and they were quite correct. Our room was spacious and clean, with a wonderfully comfy bed, but we were unable to have our windows open, especially at night due to the noise of people late at night and especially vehicles, some delivering very early in the morning and refuse collection. This did spoil our holiday somewhat, although we tried to ignore it. Even with the windows closed it was still a nuisance and I would suggest that the road-side windows are double glazed and air-con improved. Apart from this, our holiday was splendid and we would certainly recommend the Hotel Aprile to friends.
...
A very clean hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Good room accommodation - providing you are not near the street. Excellent breakfasts. Very suitably situated for visiting all areas of Florence

Hotel Aprile was an excellent choice. Rooms were very clean, staff was very friendly and accomodating. We had to check out one day early and they did NOT make us pay for the extra day. Room was very large and clean. Good value for the money. Would stay here again.

No problems at all in arriving at Hotel Aprile. We did a Green Lines bus transfer from Rome to Florence, and then a taxi to the hotel.
...
We were very pleased with our short stay at the Hotel Aprile. The room was quiet and comfortable, the staff very helpful and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any of my friends and would certainly stay there again. The location was terrific as well.
...
Well priced, well located, very comfortable accommodation. Breakfast was good and the breakfast area, inside and outside, are very attractive. I doubt you could do better for the price and location in Florence.

We had previously stayed at this hotel so did not bother very much with the information on the web. We were very hapy previously which was why we chose to return and certainly we were delighted we had done so. The hotel fully met all our expectations
...
The hotel was more expensive than when we stayed in 2001 but I suppose you have to expect this. We stayed in other hotels in Naples and Positano this trip and certainly this was the most expensive but it was also our favourite.
...
No not really, as I said, we tend to rely on past experiences and advice from friends probably more than on information on the web It is certainly a most convenient location; close to the station but without the attendant noise.
...
An excellent, very well-appointed hotel with a particularly helpful staff, one of whom remembered us kindly from our previous visit. Very pleasant rooms and a lovely setting for breakfast. At the more expensive end but good value for money.

we were well received and the rteceptionist spoke english which was good as to my embarrassment i speak no italian. We were shown to our room
...
Intitially we were allocated a room at the front of the hotel which was spacious, well appointed and comfortable, however there was a lot of street noise and i requested a move to a quieter room at the back of the hotel after one night. This was dealt with in a very helpful way and the second room whilst smaller was delightful and very quiet. Luckily the hotel was not busy so a move was possible, but if this had not been the case i would not have enjoyed our stay. one further comment breakfast was most disappointing as there was little variety.
...
Breakfast at the hotel was a very modest affair with little variety, with a little imagination this could have been much better. It would be useful to indicate that there is substantial street noise in the bedrooms at the front. otherwise the rooms were pleasant and well- appointed
...
An interesting old building with very helpful staff.Do be sure to ask for a room at the back overlooking the courtyard. It is in a good situation in relationship to excedllent places to eat in the evening and you can walk anywhere in Florence from this location. It is not far from the bus station to which there is a direct route to the airport and to Fiesole, which was delightful.

Our only criticism was that the woman at
the desk when we arrived was not very interested in greeting us, being friendly, or making us feel welcome. However, our subsequent encounters with the desk people were fine.

However, I picked this property from a book on small hotels in Italy. The description indicated that there would be nightly lectures about Florence at the hotel; I saw no evidence of that.

The greeting wasnt as warming as compared to other hotels in Italy.
...
The location was very nice due to the vacinity to the train terminal, but aside from that the square nearby is not very kind when night falls. Aside from that the location and staff were expected for the price, although the breakfast was lacking, even for a european breakfast. The only bright side was the very cozy rooms. Choose the rear of the hotel if possible, so to give you a view of the catherdral and the rest of the city insted of the busy road in the front.

Good location, well appointed room except the air conditioning was ineffective and it was too noisy to have the window open. The lounge area and breakfast area were lovely and the breakfast staff were friendly and efficient. The provision of free talks on the history of Florence was much appreciated. After the hustle and bustle of the street outside the hotel our room was a peaceful haven, overlooking the courtyard garden as we requested. Our only criticism of the room is that the bathroom is very small.
...
The hotel is ideally situated being within walking distance of all the major museums etc. We chose the hotel from many others on the internet and were not disappointed. We would recommend the Palazzo Dal Borgo without hestitation.
...
A very well appointed, comfortable and very conveniently situated hotel. There were 2 couples in our party and although both rooms were very good, reading the comments in the visitors book it would seem that they are not all of the same quality. On your website the hotel is described as 3-star, but on arrival the hotel describes itself as 4-star.

We appreciated that they put us in a room near the back of the hotel to avoid noise. The only suggestion is that the rate was higher than a few other hotels in the same area with similar accomodations. Since the hotel was not full a lower rate would have been nice.

You might want to mention it's proximity to Santa Novella Church and all the historic, beautful artwork that is present in that church so close by. Also, mention the perfumery just a couple of doors down that was affliated with the monks in the church.

Generous beautiful room though extremely noisy(worse in our Europe trip). Our room faced the street and we had to close the windows despite the warm weather. Should include better directions to find the hotel. Example a land mark to help direct. We walked (with our luggage) in circles in the heat. It was not fun. There is a large round about near the train station and the road was not clearly marked. Unfortunately we took the wrong turn. The courtyard in which we ate breakfast was beautiful. I saw the hotel in a magazine with the picture of the courtyard. That is what sold me on that particular hotel when comparing to other hotels in the same area... I guess you could include that on the website.

The overall look of the hotel was what I expected. The rooms were spacious as described with high ceilings. We got a quad accommodation as requested. It was quaint and with some renovations could make for a very nice place. I expected from the description for it to be newly renovated, cosy and clean. The walls were chipped and scuffed, the carpet was dated and the ventilation in the room was poor. The room smelled like smoke upon entry, and though the hotel provided air fresheners, this did not help much. This is very hard to tolerate as a non smoker. The air conditioner was very noisy. The hallways were also not very clean and there were several lizards spotted along the walls and some bugs in our room.
The bathroom was beautifully renovated and clean and the shower was great. It would have been great to have this consistency thoughout...

The Location of the Hotel was perfect. It was within walking distance to all major attractions.
...
It was very difficult to find the hotel. We drove in circles for over 1 hour and a half (2 families, with 4 children total) before we found the location. The Hotel is not very visible and not properly marked. In fact, the hotel sign at the enterace is so small that it is only visible if you are in front of it. The Aprile desgnation was below the Borgo sign. If someone did not know that Aprile belonged to the Borgo Group (as we did not) it would be very difficult to find the estabishment. Also, we contacted the hotel for directions when we reached the center and the directions were very unhelpful. Finding the hotel was needless to say...very frustrating.
...
Better directions.
Make note that the hotel sign is not visible and that one must get out of their vehicle and walk in order to find the hotel.

OK. The hotel has a lot of potential. With some renovations it would be a nice and romantic hide out.

We did rather feel that the breakfast was rather on the basic side and lacked choice when compared to other continental hotels in which we had stayed. We also thought that it was a little unreal, noting the daily room charges to expect to pay for extras to the breakfast menu.
