I alredy recommended it to a a former collegue of mine who has booked it for March or April for 4 days
And I am intending to return to beautiful Firenze and will then try to book Hotel Ariele again.

Upon check-out, the system for acceptance of the American Express credit card was not functioning, so we had to use a card tghat we had not planned to use. This was a major annoyance. (The same thing happened last year as well)

The pleasant garden, the fact that it is conveniently located, with good shops and services nearby, but also away from noise ad congenstion.

all people at desk were extremely helpful in setting up tours, reservations, etc. that I discussed via email prior to arrival.

I arrived by taxi so instructions were unnecesary.

A special point to mention is the garden. A garden in the middle of Florence is a real sensation!

I would really recommend this hotel. Near to the centre, perfect to visit the Opera and they offer a parking facility. And the atmosphere in this small palazzo is very friendly and helpful

Had stayed at Ariele once before and knew it
was easy walking distance from train/bus
station.

already knew it was in a quiet part of the
city, but within easy walking distance to
the centre. Particularly enjoyed our walk
along the river, where we saw otters and
various birds. The other routes to the
centre took us through narrow streets with
plenty opportunity for retail therapy.

The air conditoining is only run for certain times of the day, this perhaps should be mentioned. It wasn't a problem for us, but i suspect it would be an issue for some guests.

A nice hotel, good value for money (hotels in florence are expensive and sometimes poor value.). We had a pleasant stay. August is a bad month to visit Florence as many things are shut - but i would stay at the ariele again, but a different time of year!

Very authentic old Italian place to stay in Florence. Very helpful staff and clean accomedations. Great convenient location, but still remote enough from center of town. Everything was well within walking distance. That is a must in Florence. Ingrid Rahaim

We found Hotel Ariel excellent for our visit to Firenze. The location made it very accessible to all the sites we visited and most important, we were able to walk. Lovely hotel, great breakfast, fine staff. The bath was a little small but that really wasn't an issue. The accomodations were quite satisfactory and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have liked wireless internet access from my room but not absolutely necessary.

Old world charm, fine staff, comfortable accomodations with ample room. A very nice continental breakfast provided. Lovely garden and sitting rooms. Really provides a sense of the history of Firenze by staying in place such as this, as opposed to the 'cookie-cutter' modern motels.

Hotel Ariele was NOT quiet since traffic has been diverted to in front of the hotel. (Traffic from the road along the Arno cannot drive in front of the US Consulate anymore). This makes your description inaccurate.

As I wrote earlier, the Ariele was not as quiet as I'd hoped since all traffic from the main road along the Arno was diverted to in front of the hotel -- I assume due to security at the US Consulate. This made the hotel VERY noisy. All day and all night.
Also, when we asked for a good area to head to for dinner -- i.e., is Piazza Signoria a tourist trap? --- the desk clerk said, 'I don't know anything about restaurants in Florence.' If she came to Washington, D.C. I'd at least be able to steer her toward or against general areas, and I'm not even employed by a hotel.

You really need to update the 'quiet' note. State that the street in front is now a major traffic artery.

Nice room; great dining room/breakfast and lounge areas; a cat and a box turtle appeared in the garden while we were there, which was a nice surprise; the staff was very helpful overall -- especially when I fell and needed a doctor; The big disappointment was the NOISE from traffic that seems to be newly diverted to in front of the hotel.

The rooms were very spacious. Breakfast uneventful. The Air conditioning didn't work and there were spiderwebs in the corner of the ceilings. Although we advised the Reception and asked them to look into the matter, are request was basically ignored.

I checked in fairly late in the evenin. The person at the reception did not show me to the room. I had to go back twice to ask him where it was, because I could not find it.

The room and the hotel is very clean. The room was very small, but ok. In the night it is very loud. The noice comes from the road near by.
Breakfast was a bit boaring, but the hotel lays in a very nice aera where you can go everywhere by foot.

Hotel was a bit far from the train station.
We arrived early in the morning and the night shift receptionist did not have much knowledge on tourist information.

I got a smoking room which smelled to much to cigarrette smoke. Since I don't smoke this was not nice at all.

The hotel is in a good place, not a long distance from the main atraction; it is beautiful and clean.
The bathroom in the room had a bathtub/shower that was really unconfortable and it was really hard to get in and out.

But, the most negative thing that ended our wonderful vacation in Italy, was that before our last night, the housekeeping staff did not prepare our room. When we informed them, they said that they were sorry, that there must have been some sort of mistake, and then did NOTHING about it.

I believe that there was a charge to use the internet service, and another B&B did not charge. Another B&B didn't even have one to use, and we had to walk down the street to use an Internet Cafe.

The most serious criticism of the hotel was your policy of turning off the air conditioning at about 2 am.
Florence was very hot that week. As a result every night, after the air conditioning went off, we woke up and had to open the windows because of the heat in the room. Because we were unable to get a full nights sleep, we never really felt refreshed.
If we return to Florence in summer, we would not consider your hotel again unless your policy regarding air conditioning changed,or you provided adequate ceiling fans.

They have timings for use of the air condition : not to be used between 9 am and 2 pm, which is an irritant. It presumes that I do not wish to be in the room at those times, and it was very hot when we were there, requiring the a/c at all times.

Reasonable hotel with a nice garden, great breakfast, large decent room, tiny but functional bathroom ( could use a peg or 2 hang clothes and a soapdish in the shower stall ). Bit out of the way from the tourist area, in a non-descript neighbourhood. Given it's location and facilities I would expect it to have been cheaper, certainly not worth more than 80-90 Euros.
