we were greeted by the very friendly owner. She helped us with luggage upon arrival. ... The owner was SO friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating. She was helpful in helping us to plan our itinerary while we were there and also before we arrived via email. It rained while we were there and she had umbrellas for all the guests. The decor of the central areas and the rooms were beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The linens were luxurious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. A nice assortment and some homemade treats. The location was central to all major attractions. The only bad thing was there were lots of stairs to get to the entrance. ... There are lots of stairs before you arrive at the front entrance. People in poor health may have troubles. however, the owner did help us with our luggage. ... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A MUST stay at place. Best value. You won't regret it.

Gabriella was available to check us in personally. She even helped carry luggage up the stairs. We were early arriving, but she was happy to accomodate our luggage early while we started our sightseeing, and our room and luggage were exactly as she promised when we returned. ... Very pleasant accomodations. Owners were very accomodating and even fixed the wireless internet access so it could be used from our room. ... Not for anyone with limited mobility (due to the steep stairway entrance), but otherwise great, homely, clean, and comfortable accomdation in a historic building with easy access to almost anywhere in Florence.

We called from the train station and got excellent directions. We were greeted enthusiastically by Gabrielle, the owner of Il Bargello. ... Il Bargello was even better than we expected. The rooms were spacious and lovely. Each morning a sumptuous continental breakfast was laid out for us. Staff was extremely helpful: suggesting restaurants, making reservations both for eating and for visiting museums and sites, providing maps and directions, etc. ... Il Bargello was far and away a very good value for the money. ... Staying at Il Bargello was like coming to Italy and staying with friends. ... I've already highly recommended Il Bargello to several friends.

I had the absolutely best time in Florence. Gabriella and her husband could not have been better hosts. Gabriella meet me at the door downstairs and help me carry up my suitcase. ... I loved Florence and a lot of that had to do with the input from Gabriella at II Bargello. She gave me a map and told me the best places to visit and all the little pointers on how to best take advantage of what Florence has to offer. II Bargello was the cutest place imaginable. The was a cute little sitting room with free internet access and the floor top deck gave you a clear view to the Dumo. The place was new and extremely clean. Gabriella cleaned the room each day. I would always to this over renting an apartment. The breakfast each morning was great with a chappichino and fresh toasted bread, yogurt, ceral and a number of other choices. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Gabriella's husbnd even copied my photo's onto a CD for me. I would definately recommend going here over any B&B that I have ever been too. Gabriella recommed a wine tour that was small and fabulous and got me to Sienna and Pisa. I hope you enjoy your trip to Florence as much as I did. ... At check out Gabriella's husband and brother waited to carry my suitcases down stairs. I was very thankful about that! I felt the serice and friendlyness could not have been better. ... Gabriella is very neat and organized and and speaks fluent english and Italien. This makes all the difference in the world when she was giving detail information on where to go and what to do. She knew the city so well and had such good advice that she made my trip one of the most memoriable that I have ever gone on.. ... I was clean and cute and had a lot of charater. It was recently completing remodeled and was very comfortably set up. The details made it really homey and it felt warm and freiendly to come back to in the evening. I would highly reommend staying here.

Fabulous location, exceptional assistance from Gabriella for everything from museum reservations to restaurant suggestions. ... I never actually saw the website. Definately a place to return. I don't think I could visit Florence again and not stay there.

We were given a very warm welcome by Gabriella and made to feel like part of the family during our stay. She met us on our arrival and helped carry our heavy bags up 3 flights of stairs. Carrying bags down at the end of the trip was a different storey. Everything in between was 100% satisfaction. ... We were so impressed with the quality, comfort and cleanliness of our stay at Il Bargello B&B. We looked forward to Breakfast each morning as Gabriella presented a delicious table full of food including cereals, toast & peanut butter, Canadian coffee and cafe latte's!! We were very comfortable and highly recommend Gabriella and her beautiful new B&B. ... Checking out was easy, and there were NO hidden or additional charges. We were sad to leave as we were made to feel very comfortable, just like home. ... The stairs with no elevator is the ONLY negative thing I can say. Everything else was more than expected. ... Home away from home. :)

Interesting restoration history in order to convert this 500 year old building (by the present owners) into a lovely third-storey B&B. ... When I arrived, I had lost my wallet en route to Italy -- Gabriela offered to pay for my cab to the B&B and gave me 50 euros until I could arrange for a transfer of funds. She went above and beyond to assist me, and her trust and warmth was appreciated during a very stressful couple of days. ... In addition to assisting me during my awkward arrival, Gabriela had great suggestions for restaurants, leather shops, oil shops, etc. She was also very open to hear my experience, and took down the name of a woman I took cooking classes with. Would highly recommend Il Bargello to anyone visiting Florence -- warmth, professionalism and great service! ... Incredible warmth, hospitality, enthusiasm and service. Also, Gabriela is chatty and fun, as well as being professional. She also has great suggestions as to where to eat, etc. without being pushy about it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone! A home away from home.

Stairs were a bit of a challenge with cases after walking from the station, but Gabriella helped with the luggage. ... Gabriella could not have been more friendly and helpful. She phoned the Accademia and booked our tickets, suggested going up to the Piazza Michelangelo where the view was stunning and provided wine glasses for the roof terrace. Breakfast was excellent too. ... Bit of a panic when trying to use my credit card as I did not know my PIN number. Was not allowed to sign for it as expected, so had to used my debit card instead. ... Il Bargello is ideally situated in Florence - it could not be more central. We walked everywhere. The room was quite compact, but we had everything we needed, and all spotlessly clean. We were in Tuscany for two weeks, and the breakfasts here were by far the best. The one drawback is the stairs -no lift, but a big bonus is the lovely roof terrace -ideal for a drink in the early evening. Gabriella was extremely helpful and friendly. Would return and recommend to anybody.

This was a wonderful place to stay. The only drawback was that it was up three flights of stairs with no elevator; a problem when we were hauling our luggage up and down and the beginning of our stay. ... The room seemed more spacious on the web, and we didn't know about the lack of an elevator. ... The dollar was very weak, so it ended up costing more than we anticipated to us just because of that. ... No elevator and three very steep flights of stairs. ... Quaint with friendly staff. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests at breakfast, and liked being able to make tea when we came home at night. There's also a roof top available for chatting and relaxing--very nice in the morning and evening.

The B&B is located in the heart of the pedistrian zone of Florence and you must ring the bell to announce your arrival. Gabriella was most helpful in assisting us up with luggage (3 flights and no elevator).
... I think you need to emphasize that that Il Bargello is on the third floor and there is no elevator....could be a problem for people that have health problems. Otherwise, a great location. I'd suggest that Gabriella has some fruit at breakfast, as it tended to be all breads. ... None ... Lack of elevator. Superb location to tour the heart of Florence. ... We knew from the website that the B&B was on the third storey of the building, but were somewhat daunted when we realized how high that was (77 steps). But our hosts came running down and carried our bags up for us. This, for we seniors, was wonderful. ... Our room was extraordinary, very spacious, beautiful tiled floors, well furnished, outstanding bathroom - everything new and all very tasteful. Above the floor containing the B&B there is a very nice roof deck with views over the roofs of Florence.
Our hostess was helpful with directions to a restaurant for dinner, and to the Academmia.
The location is ideal, seemingly in the very centre of Old Florence, and within comfortable walking distance of much anyone would want to see.
The only negative was that the noise of revellry from the streets below on a Saturday night continued until 4:30 a.m. ... Once again our helpful hosts carried our bags down to the taxi which they had ordered for us. ... no. The place is indeed a gem ... Try to get into Il Bargello B&B. The location is perfect, the quality of accommodation is outstanding, the breakfast excellent, and the hosts wonderfully warm and helpful. You must of course be fit enough to hamdle the 77 steps up to it.

Il Bargello B&B offers excellent value. The owner, Gabriella, operates the facility very well & is an outstanding resource for any information desired. Much closer to the centre of everything than expected. One consideration is the number of stairs (77) to reach the top floor where the B&B is located. Well worth the hike but for people with mobility issues this would be a consideration. ... Fantastic B&B! Great location and rooms were wonderful. Very helpful staff in terms of booking special events in Florence and recommending excellent restaurants. 5 star! ... Il Bargello was wonderful. The location was perfect to all of the sites. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean and the staff were extremely helpful.
They have a beautiful roof-top terrace that you can enjoy. Breakfast was great and perhaps the best cappacino's of all the B&B's we stayed at in Italy.
We would definately stay here again. The only one issue we can think of is if you have mobility issues. There are 77 steps up to the B&B. Well worth the walk in our minds!

The location was fantastic. The only negative thing was the noise coming from the road below, especially on the weekend nights. It probably was quieter in the rooms on the other side of the building. Other than that...fantastic. ... You can't go wrong with this B&B. The rooms were large, clean, and wonderfully decorated. The breakfast was just what you needed to get going for the day. The best thing about his place was its location. It is right in the heart of all the places to see in Florence. It also has a great roof top terrace with views of the city. The owners were extremely helpful in making suggestions for things to see and places to eat. They certainly went above and beyond what most are probably used to for B&B's in Italy.
