Very Clear - comprehensive. Most detailed website I found on places to stay. So great to have the photos and rates and location information right there. ... can we have a Romeby.com? ... There was no sign for the hotel, which was a bit confusing, but the nice man in the leather shop next door knew what we were looking for and help us find the which door it was. Would be nice if there was some sort of sign outside. I don't even know if the building number was on the outside of the door. ... This place was amazing! by far - the best looking, cleanist, most friendly people we experienced in our travel in italy. Will recomment your service and this hotel hundred fold to friends looking for a place to stay. The rooms were decorated wonderfuly, the people were more than helpful and friendly! only downfall was the noise level, but that is the price you get for such a great location. earpluggs took care of that. ... so easy - let us take care of it the night before. helped us get a cab and to the station on time. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel!!! well worth the money - would have paid 100$ more a night for this! ... it is a walk up, but has small elevator. ... very clear, comprehensive. all the information you need right there in one place. easy to compare places with each other. ... cute little hotel in heart of florence, near everything. Newly repainted, refurnished, redecorated. Great decore, huge rooms, huge bathrooms even for american standard. Most friendly staff you will encounter. (Made all our reservations for museums and restaurants.) Best value by far!

This rooms were better than some of the four star hotels we have stayed in. Everything was beautifully laid out and it is obvious that a lot of care and attention has been paid to the decor. I liked having a key and being able to come and go as i liked. My one complaint is that the beds were really really hard but we were informed by staff that the mattresses were new. We would probably go back once the mattresses have softened up!!! ... positive - it is in a great location - very very central but not noisy at all. ... I would describe it as a real gem of a find - we had previously stayed in a budget hotel in Rome which does not even come to close to this hotel. i couldn't believe that the prices were so low for the quality of the rooms!!

They were very helpful as they were there to meet us ever though it was outside their normal working hours. ... Located on the third floor of an apartment building. Access to the first floor is via a set of stairs, then there is a lift to the third floor. ... Very clean and tidy, small and friendly. Centrally located with easy access to all of the major sights. A 10 minute walk from the main train station. A great hotel for a short break in Florence.

As there is no sign for the Relais Cavalcanti it took somewhile for us to realise that the building contained the Relais! ... Great location and completely lived up to expectations.I have already emailed our thanks to the owners complementing both them and you on the accuracy of the web site ... I suggest you emphasise just how close the Relais is to all the major attractions ... Already described to one friend as excellent and highly recommended

THe neigborhood was very noisy: from 6 0' clock in the morning very noisy because there was a market around the corner. Also during the night it was noisy. I think you should clearly state that in the description. ... for 3 persons in a not so spacious room 160 euro is not good value for money I think ... see above about the noise

... OUr Stay was wonderful. ... Checking out was very easy. We paid our bill upon our arrival and recieved a discount for paying in cash. ... Very wellcoming and helpful in explaning the facilities. ... We took advantage of getting the hotel to prebook our visits to the very busy museums and galleries ... By paying cash the day before check out there is a discount available. The ability to leave our luggage in the hotel on the last day of our stay was most welcom. We were provided a key to enter and make use of the facilities that day up to when we left for the airport that evening. ... Everything is so close to the hotel. Its position meant we could drop by to freashen up, or change for the evening without it feeling its out of our way. ... You must stay here - it realy is a room with a view!

The manager was extremely helpful, and assisted by carrying one of my two bags up the initial flight of stairs when I arrived (and when I left.) Also took time to explain the set of keys for the front door, the elevator, the Hall entrance and the private room. (Excellent security), and to go over a map of nearby sights, etc. ... Staff was always more than helpful in arranging for museum tickets, and explaining directions, etc. Charming 'breakfast room', although breakfast was not served. Coffee and tea, and simple pastries were always available, and one could buy breakfast foods at the nearby bakery/coffee shop, and bring them back to enjoy in the 'breakfast room.' ... See above. ... See above. ... As a perfect place to stay, in the center of the city: small, clean, private, tatefully decorated rooms, nice views;...very near to all the Piazzas, the Ponte Vecchio, The Duomo, Uffizi, and other museums (AND, if one didn't mind a short walk,...only about 15 or 20 minutes WITH luggage on wheels, to the train station.)

We absolutely LOVED Relais Cavalcanti. The room was very comfortable, clean and authentically italian. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped with not only appliances and silverwear/plates but also with tasty food and coffee! We became good friends with one of the sister proprietors, Anna, and are truly grateful for all of the great suggestions and assistance she provided us. THE LOCATION IS PHENOMENAL! I lived in Florence for some time, so know the city well, and was extremely impressed with the value we receieved for our money. A truly beautiful and rewarding experience. Thank you! ... We had the room closest to the entrance and office, so when people were checking in or out, or settling their bill or talking to the Francesca or Anna in the office, it could be a little noisy - especially with the echo-y tile floors. There is an open-air market just around the corner, and the daily set-up and tear down is quite loud. However, you can hardly notice with the windows closed. We kept the windows closed after getting bitten by mosquitos the first night - even in the cold October weather. Window screens would be a welcome amenity, but I realize they are not common there.

We were driving so directions into Florence were a bit difficult. The directions started as if we were in Florence and not how to get to the point where they started (north, south, etc.) Also, once we got there - the door to the hotel is to the left of the Old Stove if you are facing the building (to the right if your back is to the building). We walked by it several times. Other than that, it was wonderful!! ... Relais Cavalcanti was great! Great location, very friendly and accomodating!! Very good sized room! ... Great hotel in an excellent location. Rooms are spacious with very nice bathrooms. Staff were very accomodating and friendly. They helped us schedule a reservation at the Accademia and offered an umbrella for the rain. Overall an excellent stay in Florence. We were sad to leave.

directions given on the phone for arrival on foot from station were easy to follow and took less than 10 minutes ... Very convenient location with memorable views of the city. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and the Cavalcanti was more like staying in an apartment than an hotel. The facilities are not as great as a stay in a hotel but it was always immaculate and there are facilities to make coffee or eat your own meal in the dining room. There is no breakfast provided but plenty of delis within 2 minutes walk to buy croissants. ... If you want an inexpensive stay in a central location in an informal atmosphere then a stay at Relais Cavalcanti is no bad idea.

It was a little bit confusing at first to find the small label above the buzzer as the hotel has no outdoor sigage whatsoever. It would help to add to the directions that you must approach the doors and look for the Relais Cavalcanti buzzer button. ... The staff was very helpful in providing directions and suggestions on what sights to see. They gave us a very nice map to follow. ... The BOotticelli room overlooks the market square where the Porcinelli (spelling may be wrong) statue sits. The legend of the Porcinelli states that if you rub its nose you will come back to Florence someday... doubly true if you rubs its nose and you stay at the Relais Cavalcanti - you are sure to come back and enjoy more of Florence! ... The hotel is very, very, very close to all the major sights in Florence making it a perfect 'home base' for a tourist.

Much more could be made of the name of Cavalcanti and the importance of that family to the city: Guido Cavalcanti (c1255-1300)was a leading poet and friend of Dante; the sacristy in SMN was commisioned by the Cavalcanti; Raffaello Cavalcanti (fl late cinquecento - early seicento)was involved with the Accademia degli Elevati and left an important manuscript of music for the lute. There many other examples from this family that your guests might be interested in. ... We stayed in the former home of an illustrious Florentine family; we were made to feel welcome; the accommodation was clean, comfortable and well-priced; we will return to Florence and it would be unthinkable to stay elsewhere.

We arrived very late, around 10:30pm, and there was someone there to greet us and gives us a tour of the property and give us good directions on where to go grab a quick bite and bottle of wine. She was very helpful and pleasant. ... The bathroom layout took a little getting used to, as you could hear the people in the bathroom from the room next door to ours. By the ceiling there was an open area where all sounds could travel back and forth between the bathrooms. Not a big deal, but not always nice to hear other people going to the bathroom! ... The location is ideal, as it is not more than a 2 minute walk to the piazza della Signorio, piazza Republica, Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery. Also, not more than 5 minute walk to the Duomo. Fantasic location. ... Charming and rustic little bed and breakfast with polite and helpful staff, in the heart of Florence. I have stayed in Florence a few times and have never been happier with accomodation. Compared to prices of comparable accomodations, this bed and breakfast is better value for your money. I would recommend to couples who wish to be in the center of the city, but who do not like the typical hotel, touristic feel.

It would have been helpful to know that the elevator was one, very steep flight up from the front door. Guests with heavy luggage (with wheels or not) need to be quite strong to drag their bags all the way up. ... Very smooth - they even held our bags for several hours while we concluded our tour of the city - providing front door keys so that we could return to retrieve our luggage. ... Much smaller than I had expected, including the room, but charming and quaint with interesting views and very nice bathroom. Very loud at night if your room is overlooking the market. The icemaker didn't work in the refrigerator - and never did get the air conditioner to work (although the weather cooled sufficiently later that night). But the people were friendly and the shared sunroon/kitchen was absolutely lovely. Listening to Vivaldi while sipping your morning coffee, surrounded by a Tuscan feast for the eyes, was sublime!

It was a simple, short and easy walk from the train station to Relais Cavalcanti. Their directions were simple and precise. ... When we arrived we were told that we had been given their best room, for no additional cost. And it was the best room, truly a room with a view. ... Relais Cavalcanti is everything you would hope that a small, family-owned, modern, boutique hotel in the center of Florence should be. Our room was large, modern, clean, and airy, with a beautiful view of the market and the campanile of the Palazzo Vecchio. The bathroom was immaculate, up to date, and finished in beautiful ceramic and marble tile. Our hosts were gracious and helpful, proud of the work they had put into their hotel and of their beautiful city.
We would highly recommend the Relais Cavalcanti in Florence to anyone - and in fact already have, to friends and family. We hope that everyone has as nice a stay as we did.

The only difference was Our room didn't really have as good a view as I was expecting for a 'superior'. Also there was no bath only a shower. But this was only a minor point. The Relais itself was lovely. I'd go again but this time I'd only opt for the lower standard room. ... The 5% discout for paying in cash was an excellent idea. ... This guest house is full of character, well run, with excellent staff. The rooms are extremely satisfactory with fridges and Sat TV (news and music channels). The strongest feature is the location, nearly every attraction is within 10 minutes and as the Relais is just near the Ponte Vechio the higher quality but lower priced restaurants of the south bank of the river and Santo Spirito are close by for dinner.

The actual hall door to the hotel was a bit hard to find, there is no sign or plague outside. ... Because of the room with the view, we found the marker below noisy from early morning. We actually arrived after midnight, and a friend of ours picked up the key on our behalf during the day, so I have no comments to make regarding the actual checking in. However, the friend who picked up our key said they were very nice and helpful. ... The hotel was a very different experience than we would normally do - we usually frequent hotels where everything is included/catered for. This was a much smaller scale than we usually do, but having said that we felt it really fit in with the Florence experience and would therefore stay at the Relais Cavalcanti again. My only bugbear was that the bed was hard! Otherwise, a truely lovely hotel. ... A kitchen is available for preparing food, making tea & coffee, etc. ... Because it has a satisfying selection of hotels and is easy and safe to organise. ... Typical Italian family hotel. Very Renaissance.

Variety of properties available. ... The ability to use email to a location 6 time zones away was very useful. ... There is no significant external sign for the hotel. There is a row of buzzer buttons by the door. The hotel's button is buried among all the buttons. Close inspection was required to figure out that we were in the right place. Once that was done, the receptionist was great. ... Our room was smaller and less elegant that the one pictured on the web site. The street noise was loud until about 2AM. Closing the window and turning on the air conditioner helped. ... They graciously arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the very early hour of 4 AM. ... Look carefully for the door. There is one flight of stairs that must be climbed to reach the elevator. ... Nice, clean, modern hotel very close to the center of Florence.

Very good - receptionist was also the owner and she made us feel bvery welcome. ... Think you should make it clear that it's not really a hotel, more like private rooms in a appartment block ( albeit a very old one)! ... Small, friendly, different

No one mentioned the stairs; nor was there a mention that there was no sign on the building indicating that this was, indeed, the Relais Cavalcanti. Other than that, our stay was great...once we found our lodgings. Very centrally located - although the pub next door was a little noisy. ... NO SIGN on the building! Stairs up to lift. ... Quiant, but centrally located. Nice people.

The hotel is not marked, it is simply a door in a building with a real small name on a nameplate along with other businesses. I believe they should have stated that it was not a traditional hotel and that it was in a business building. The stairway leading up to the rooms had a putrid smell, the elevator was only big enough to hold 1 person with luggage. (packing light at that!) Once inside the room, it was nice, clean and comfortable. ... The hotel is not marked. There is only a small brass nameplate that you must physically go up to the door to look at and read the list of names. It is next door to an Irish Pub which can get loud at night. ... Once inside, the room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hostess, Francesca was delightful. The drawbacks are that is difficult to find the building. They should tell you it is next door to the pub. Also, you immediately must walk up a flight of stairs in a dark and horribly smelling hallway. The elevator is extremely tiny. This is not a place where you will want to relax in your room. Just for sleeping and cleaning up it is adequate.

Anna was waiting outside for us when our taxi arrived. She helped us carry luggage up to Relais Cavalcanti and was extremely helpful in planning out our first day of sightseeing and eating. ... Everything was organized and better than we expected it would be.

the owners are very attentive, they even e-mailed us to US their cell phone # just in case. As for staying, it is extremely private with a set of keys given to you for the entire stay. The self service breakfast room is very good, much better that we saw at other places. Overall,we liked it a lot. ... Very nice and attentive owners, exellent location, very private.

Anna met us upon arrival and was wonderful. She was super-kind and helpful, making us reservations for the Uffize and Accademia upon arrival. ... Only part I didn't much care for was the smell of the outer hallways leading up to the hotel's floor. It stunk pretty bad of mildew. The hotel room and floor area were very nice and clean.

Had a problem with the electricity in one of our rooms. No one was available at the front desk and no one answered the contact phone number. Room cost was adjusted.

While the location was a little noise, it wasn't as bad as I expected. The centrality of the Relais more than made up for the outside noise. ... Very nice... the 22 steps to the elevator might be a problem to some, but not to our group. The expected noise wasn't a problem, although we weren't traveling in the high season. And the location was wonderful in a very confusing city like Florence.

The room were lovely,The noise factor to this location made it very unenjoyable. There was no sign outside of this hotel , so not even taxi when we had arrived at this hotel knew if we were at the right place. it was a dark entrance, not easy accessibility, & the owners were not around,to greet us.not even any signs on the doors of the space. For this reason it made it a very strange place to stay. The owners once having met them, I must say, were lovely & sweet. ... Not easy to find, not very accssible, noisy location, breakfast is not really breakfast. ... Nice but , unless you need it for location reasons , not to stay there.
