Breathe the atmosphere of the past with all the modern comforts in the historical centre of Florence, just few meters away from the Duomo: all this is Cavour 10, first class B&B. The mansion is full of history and charm; it belonged from the early XX century to the actor Franco Scandurra. |
In this apartment people of international fame have been hosted, as the writer Luigi Pirandello, and unforgettable actors as Antonio De Curtis, best known as 'Totò', Alberto Sordi and the charming Eleonora Duse, close friends of the artist Scandurra. The house is just in front of the fifteenth-century Medici Riccardi Palace, an important example of the Florentine architecture from the Renaissance, built between the 1444 and the 1459. |
Via Larga was the previous name that 'Via Cavour' had until Florence became the Capital of Italy in 1865: 'Larga' means 'Large' and, in fact, this is still the largest street in the historical centre of Florence. During the centuries, it has been - and it still remains - the most important and well known street in Florence: Popes, Kings, Heads of States, politicians, scientists and intellectuals, Florentine gentlemen and noblewomen had pleasant stroll long the street. Our B&B has 3 double bedrooms with private bathroom. |
These 3 rooms are called "Principe de Curtis", "Eleonora Duse" and "Luigi Pirandello", because these famous people spent their time in the house. The rooms, with a view on Palazzo Medici Riccardi, have beautiful frescoed ceilings from the XVIII Century and maintain unaltered the charm of Florence. They have been furnished with an elegant, sober and chic taste. They are three double rooms provided with a relaxing area equipped with coaches. |
