The room was quite noisy because it opened up onto the street by the train station. I had asked for one of the rooms on the website but I didn't get it. Besides, the shower didn't work properly.

I think the room was still good value for money given that it is located in the city centre and is only a 5-mn-walk from the Duomo.

It is a good hotel near the Railway station,
and historic center ofthe town.
I found also the price very interesting for people traveling like us: We usually visit one city at a time and make rather long stays there. Evidently an expensive hotel would be out of budget.

... That the hotel is on the second floor of an old building and the main access is with an old elevator, used also by other similar properties in the building. (This creates a bad first impression, which is not conformant with the good impression, the renovated hotel makes, once you enter).

This is the nicest and largest room I have had in Florence, even compared to many fancier hotels I have used for business in the past. We like the hotel a lot, like the people and will use it again.

When we have seen the entrance we were affraid about the hotel, but it was beatifull.

One thing, ours room was situated near from the reception so it was noisy because of the phone and people who came back by night.

We arrived late but there was no problem, we got the room, which was nice, clean and comfortable but overlooking the street taht appeared quite busy in the morning.

We have asked to be moved to another room which would not overlook the street a bit too noisy for us and there was no problem. We got a nice room with the view on the redroofed houses which we loved. The breakfast was served on time and it was really good ( bread rolls and local brioches always fresh). Sheets snow white and so were the towels, bathroom clean, perhaps a bit small, but comfortable enough to take a shower. No complaints. We loved the place and the hotel staff. recommend to everyone who likes small cosy hotels value for money

Noise from the street was disturbing, the shower did not function well (they promised a plumber to look after it but he never showed up), and the breakfast was minimal.

Good budget choice, close to the railroad station. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Be prepared for much street noice (tour buses use the street outside) and minimal breakfast (juice made from powder, dull rolls, but lots of coffee). Room 125 is best - stained-glass windows, large area, etc.

The hotel was very clean with attractive furnishings. We found the lift helpful with the luggage. I would be happy to recommend the hotel to any visitor to the city.

The hotel furnishings had an Italian flavour which we liked. The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast adequate.We found the situation very good for site seeing and convienient for the railway station, restaurants and shops.

The hotel is situated on a very noisy street.
Access by car is difficult, no parking outside hotel.
They do actually offer overnight parking at 20 euros a night. (which is cheaper than the nearest public car park)

Despite the exterior of the building which isn't too attractive, the hotel inside is charming and offers very comfortable accomodation at a good price.

The property was everything we were expecting and the staff were all very polite and helpful (and spoke English!!). We have been travelling for 6 months, so are very astute in our accommodation choices. Based on our experiences, we have learned not to expect everything, but it was very nice to get a high quality bed (something that is always pot luck over a website). The only issue we had was a leaking airconditioner.

Some of the rooms, aren't just rooms. Separate toilets is a very big plus and one room we had (we stayed there twice), had a separate lounge area as well.

Good value for money, nicely decorated, friendly staff that speak English, large beds in a very convenient location close to the main station, but in a lovely street / area that is also safe. Very handy to nice restaurants that are not touristy and overpriced.

only.i would be nice if there was somewhere you could make your own cup of tea or coffee
at those odd times you come in tired from walking and all that fantastic sight seeing.
it would be of such little expense for something so appreciated.

The hotel was a great deal for Florence. It was clean and quite beautiful. It was walking distance to everything, however was very close to the train station -- which can be a plus (close to transport) or negative (close to undesirables). I felt for the money we couldn't have done better. Ask for a quiet room in the back.

Receptionist gave good information regarding various trips and exhibitions available during our stay.
The room was excellent being on a corner with two windows one of which faced over a quiet courtyard. Hotel itself was situated in a typical 18th century house on 2nd floor with a period central lift.

It is possible to exit the main railway station onto roads on either side. Of couse, I exited the wrong side for the hotel, but it only took one question to a local pedestrian, and I was headed in the right direction. Perhaps indicating whether to turn Left or Right after leaving the train platform may be useful to other users of your site.
Unfortunately, the elevator wouldn't open its doors at the right floor for Desiree .. it had evidently 'broken' the morning before I arrived. That couldn't be helped .. though a sign at the front of the elevator could have reduced some anxiety when the elevator stopped at the correct floor, but wouldn't let me out. After calling out a few times, someone came downstairs from the next level and told me to take the elevator to that level and walk down the stairs to Desiree. (With heavy suitcase, it was a bit difficult).
Otherwise, I was delighted with the hotel.

The street signs out front of the Station are not the best. Perhaps clearer instructions to exit the station via the left-hand exit just off the platform would be helpful.

Rooms above the street are much noisier than those on the courtyard side of the building because of the tour bus traffic. The windows are well sound proofed in all rooms.

It is a former pension, part of a floor of a large building containing many similar hotels. Historically interesting old building. Rooms are quite spacious. Quaint old lift. Very easy walk to train station.

very comfortable, clean and spacious and the staff were friendly. It's location was very handy for the train and bus station. The only slight downside was that if you have a room on the front the main road could be very busy at periods and noisy, which meant you needed to keep you windows shut.

Night clerk was as tired-looking as the hotel and didn't offer any information or assistance, perhaps because of the language problem. Whenever we walked into the lobby, he was just sitting in the dark in front of the T.V.

Tired looking hotel that may have seen better days. Area is noisy and we had booked the quieter room, but doing so only offers a view of grey walls & plumbing in the mornings. Breakfast and servers were helpful, buffet offerings were good and the breakfast room was homey and cheerful with the wood-finshed french doors, pots of geraniums and plants on the small patio.

We had to leave one day early because of a train strike. The hotel agreed and said we would not be penalized but when it came time to checking out, they wanted to charge us for the extra night. They finally consented, but it was not a pleasant experience.

Hotel Desiree was an unexpected surprise. We had booked what we felt was budget accomodation. The location is very central but not preposseing from the street. In contrast, the rooms (including the dining room) are delightful. Care has been taken in furnishing and decoration, and the result is charming.
The staff are extremely helpful and spoke excellent English.

My room was clean, comfortable and the accomodation was as expected. The shower room was a little small and the shower flooded the shower-room floor. I found the room a little noisy as it was close to the reception and the TV/radio was a bit disturbing. But otherwise excellent.

We were require to change rooms - the first room was small and noisey. The new room larger and like the one on the net.
One or second visit, our rooms was not available (ill tennant) so another room was arranged in the hotel upstairs. That room. while less attractive, was clean and acceptable.

I stayed on two separate occasions, had to ask for a more quiet room for the second visit which was provided, but said no guarentee ! also the noise from the adjacent rooms/ toilets was at times deafening, disturbing sleep ! only a bar of soap provided on the first visit, none on the second plus no coat hangers in the wardrobe !

Also what services the hotel provides regarding breakfast, ie different coffee's available. breakfast choice was very limited compared to others I've stayed at !
