 Hundreds of historical reminds are connected to the building now hosting the Grand Hotel. Under Cosimo I de' Medici the properties of the Frati Minori of S.Francesco of Assisi were distributed among privates that started building their own houses. Rich people built their luxurious palazzi right in the area where the Grand Hotel is now located. The noble family Giuntini moved there between 1432 and 1506: 10 of its members where Priori della Repubblica. |
 In 1853-1855 all the area was rebuilt following the fashion of the moment, according which the city of Florence had to look like Paris. Queen Victoria
visited Florence three times in 20 years and all the aristocratic families considered the city as the most beautiful in the World. Since its opening the new hotel, that was called "Grand Hotel Royal de la Paix" was one of the most luxurious in Florence.
