The Grand Hotel Baglioni is situated in the heart of Florence, just a few minutes' walk from the Duomo, the most important monuments, museums and shops. The hotel set in a 19th century building, once the residence of the Carrega Bertolini princes, is typical of Tuscan architecture and is the oldest hotel in town. This prestigious hotel offers all modern facilities while retaining typical Florentine charm and good taste.

The interior has coffered-wood ceiling and grey stone staircases and accents in the corridors. The wide windows still have original leaded panes and the lofty ceilings have typical wooden beams. The atmosphere is cosy, welcoming and refined. The hotel offers 193 newly refurbished guest rooms all furnished in the characteristic Florentine style.

The seven congress halls have been completely renovated and provide the ideal solution for any kind of event. The pride of the Grand Hotel Baglioni is the panoramic restaurant and roof garden "Terrazza Brunelleschi" from which you can have a breathtaking view of the rooftops, the monuments and the historical centre of the city. The finest and impeccable service combined with the cuisine which includes both international and typical dishes of Tuscan flavour make it a perfect place for meetings. This fascinating atmosphere makes your stay unforgettable.

History
In the year 1902, Prince Carrega di Lucedio decided to move to Rome and left his ancient palace, that was one of the most imposing building on the piazza,
and convinced the Baglioni family to turn the place, known as the Palazzo Carrega-Bertolini, into a hotel. On the 12th of August 1903, the feast day of Saint Claire, this building inaugurated its activity as a prestigious hotel.

Over the years the hotel has undergone many transformations and lived through many adversities, including two wars and a devastating flood. All things to be forgotten and it is more pleasant to recall the illustrious guests that have chosen the Grand Hotel Baglioni as King Umberto I, scientists such as Marconi, the musicians Puccini, Toscanini, writers including Pirandello, D'Annunzio, Trilussa and Rodolfo Valentino.
