Marco was very welcoming and gracious. He had
all sorts of information about restaurants,
tours, and the neighborhood that was very
helpful.

The Ginestra apartment was spotlessly clean.
Although a small space (which we knew), it was
very well organized, too. The location was
great--right in the heart of historic
Florence.

We knew that the Ginestra was an apartment on
the fourth floor and that there was no
elevator, but it was even more steps than we
expected because the first floor of the
building would be considered the second floor
in the U.S. (There were extra flights of
stairs that we didn't expect.) Perhaps that
could be a little clearer.

The Ginestra is exceptionally clean with
comfortable beds. It is small, but it is well
organised and well equipped. The hosts are
friendly and very knowledgable about the area.
Although it is long hike up the stairs to
reach the apartment, you can't beat what a
good value it is and how centrally it is
located in Florence.

Anna and Marco were friendly and welcoming and expecting us even though we were later than we originally said due to train delays. They assisted with our bags up the stairs and asked us into their apartment to sit while they completed paperwork etc. Marco had also been out and bought some pasta and sauce for our dinner and some food to get us through breakfast as well since we were late getting there. We really appreciated this. They also helped us locate somewhere to help us get our suitcase fixed.

We got fit on the stairs but we knew the apartment had no lift so that was OK. The apartment was very clean and well presented and everything worked well.

Its a very central location but yet very quiet except that one night a neighbouring couple had a very loud and unpleasant fight in the middle of the night that went on for a few hours with lots of shouting, crying and banging. That is not the fault of the Ginestra owners though.

Highly recommended and great value. Lots of stairs to need to be fit to ready to get fit.
