Checkin was quick, easy. Clerks spoke very good English so there was no difficulty. ... I have stayed at Minerva before and knew what to expect, but was happy with the improvements and added facilities.
... Rate was higher than it might have been in US, but appropriate compared to toher hotels in Florence.
... Closeness to everything. Maybe a table to sites in Meters. Also should explain the ease of booking tickets and tours thru your desk. ... Minerva is a very comfortable and pleasant hotel with a view over the piazza. Convenient to train station, visitors info, and everything else.

My family and I were amazed at how lovely the hotel was and was more than I had expected. The staff were lovely and very helpful, especially when I discovered I had lost the key to my case. ... The hotel was absolutely beautiful and very clean. I was worried because I had heard not to expect too much even though it was a 4* hotel, but I wasn't disappointed it was more than a 4*. The hotel was very central to all the sights and to the station. I will defiantely be going back!! ... Checking out was so easy and quick. They looked after our luggage for us while we spent the last few hours indulging in further retail therapy! They even gave me an umbrella to take away with me. ... No everything was just as I had read about. ... A fantastic luxurious hotel, very central to all the fantastic shops and the sights.

Wonderful, brilliant position to take in all the sites of Florence by foot. Clean, welcoming and with excellent food. ... Quick and efficient. ... Immaculately decorated, friendly, centrally located and with the great added bonus of the pool on the roof!

Was everything OK ... The Price of the garage is not published on the webpage (€ 26,-- / Day) ... It's a great grand hotel with a very expensive pool bar (€ 5,-- for a coke, € 8,-- for a milk shake) but the pool on the top of the hotel with the great view to the dome ist REALLY GREAT!!

Good details about sights to see, and free map of Florence. Porter was very helpful. ... Air conditioning is only switched on in summer time even though it was very hot during my stay (first week in May). Your voucher stated AC was included in the price ... Quick and easy taxi booking. Fast checkout. ... Single rooms are very small, but excellent quality. No baths in single bathrooms, shower only. ... Excellent experience. Very centrally placed for sight-seeing Florence on foot. Restaurant was an exceptional experience: excellent food, service, and staff were excellent, and polyglot. I had intended trying other restaurant in the area, but just had to use the hotel restaurant as it was so enjoyable. Get a room overlooking the Piazza - great view.

we did not look for directions from the site. Found it fairly handy though, ... it did say they had a swimming pool but it is closed in the winter....maybe could say that on the site. Small quibble. ... not a bother ... no ... better than a standard Italian four star! Drink at the bar very pricy! €7 for a bottle of beer!

It stands on a square which looks a little 'down at heel' but appeared to be entirely safe.
It is adjacent to a church, which might be made clear for the directions - locals are more likely to know the church than the hotel ... Good quality hotel, very central, polite and efficient staff

Very fast check-in ... We also stayed in Rome and in Venice and for the same rate as at the Grand Hotel Minerva, and I would have to say that the Rome hotel was more spacious and the Venice hotel was fantastic, ranking the Grand Hotel Minvera as the last out of the three. It had the smallest room, and the bathroom was okay (was clean) but not to the standard of the other 2 hotels we stayed at. Also we tended to hear a lot of noise, maybe from the room next door. ... As stated above, compared to the other 2 hotels, they were better value for money ... Nice hotel, very small rooms

I travelled by taxi from the airport, so I did not follow the directions you provide. ... A very nice hotel: well run, by a pleasant staff; good location; pleasant ambiance throughout. ... One word: excellent. The hotel had been recommended to by friends who'd satyed there and were equally satisfied.

The staff were really helpful and offered us a map of the city. We used to live in Florence so we didn't need it but it was a nice touch.
The receptionist also phoned to try and book a museum I requested. ... The best hotel to stay in Florence in the summer. The pool is fantastic after a hot day wandering around the city or shopping. The pool also has one of the best views of Florence.

We absolutely loved this hotel: the staff was wonderful in every way! We highly recommend the property. Breakfast was great. We had dinner there and it was terrific. The bar is cozy. Our suite was just perfect for three people. Everything was just as you explained and articulated in your on-line service. I will highly recommend to all. Thank you so much. ... Very accommodating. Great food. ... Excellent breakfast buffet. Gourmet dinners. Great location; convenient to train station. ... A bit off the beaten path... but convenient to everything. Well worth checking out because it is away from the crowds but is a beautiful property with everything you need.

it actually is a hotel with higher level of individuality than the first impression (the fassade towards the square is rather plain and not inviting) ... well located hotel, spacious rooms, highly recommendable.

Getting to Florence at nite is not advisable. We were one block from the hotel, but needed the direction of an English speaking motorcyclist to guide us to the spot. Not your problem - just a tough assignment. ... Great location, but the square is deperate for completion of renovation. ... They had to bring up car and did so in the time they said they would. ... Excellent breakfast with very polite staff. ... Not a hotel with a lot of character, but their photos of doors in the elevator and on the doors to the room was a very creative touch and they keep the hotel spotless.

Euro exchange rate made it more expensive ... We really enjoyed the location. It was very lively and friendly. The proximity was near everything. The maid service was excellent and the staff polite. The room was very nice overlooking the square. All in all, a delightful experience. Joe and Cathy

Room overlooked piazza and was very noisy late at night. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. ... Breakfast service is fabulous; internet service was sporadic; staff very helpful. ... Centrally located to all major attractions, great eating establishments within 5 minutes walk, helpful and friendly staff all speak English, and the pool is a super place to unwind after a long day of exploring.

Check-in went smooth. ... Check-out was fast and easy. ... The best feature was the rooftop pool and terrace. There is a great view of Florence from the rooftop. Breakfast was a buffet, with numerous choices and quite good. While the rooms had been renovated the decor was minimal and lacking any style. The piazza outside the hotel was the most rundown piazza that we had seen in three cities that we had visited in Italy. At night the piazza becomes a hangout for locals with lots of drinking. In the morning there was a huge amount of beer bottles everywhere before the city cleaned up. The hotel's location does make it an easy short walk from the train station.

Your website was very easy and honest in pictures of the hotels. We were more thank impressed by the hotel when we arrived because sometimes the pictures look too good to be true. This will be a site I will use over and over again in the future. I'm glad to have found this by chance. ... Very pleasant and cordial. ... Very easy to navigate around the website and ALOT of photos-really important to me, since we're booking a room far away. ... It was tastefully decorated and very clean everywhere. The food provided by the hotel was very good and fresh tasting. Everything went just right.

If arriving by car, the hotel Minerva is extremly difficult to find in the middle of all the one-way street in the center of Florence. A great experience for any driver!!

No international adaptor available(Could not charge my UK mobile phone as the adaptor which the hotel provided did not cover UK voltages) ... Reasonable but slightly pricey.Good proximity to the Santa Maria Novella train station. The Santa Maria Novella Piazza outside the hotel was slightly dodgy.

We just took a taxi to the hotel so directions were not needed. You should add another bullet on the 'directions' question for 'didn't bother; took a taxi' ! The first room they tried to give us was a horror. I almost cried, but calmly requested a better room, and got it. I couldn't help thinking they wanted to saddle the dumb Americans with the worst room available. Check in was the day of the World Cup, and the staff were a bit preoccupied too, but I didn't take that personally. ... I think the website showed a garden/park in front of the hotel with fountain. This was a bit of a disappointment. All the flowers had been removed and grass planted. No flowers on the hotel window boxes either, so it was a bit dull. Also, the park was quite the hangout at night. Kind of strange. The air conditioning inside the hotel was limited, but was better than nothing! It was extremely hot the week we were there. ... It was very nice, clean, but not elegant. Food and drinks were extremely expensive at the pool bar area. $8-9 for a beer was a bit much. Individual pizza at $18 was a bit steep too. A/C could have been stronger in the room. The people hanging around outside the hotel made me feel uncomfortable at times. A river Arno view would have been better, but in this heat, the pool was definitely a plus!
