Very efficient and the confirmation a couple of weeks prior to arriving was very re-assuring.

The only negative part of the experience was that the Locanda dei Guelfi is a very small guesthouse, which is lovely and I would definitely stay at again. However, a large party with children checked in very early on our first morning and made a horrendous amount of noise for around an hour and I had to get out of bed to complain to them. The same group of people remained extremely noisy throughout their stay generally at night and in the mornings. This was a little difficult because there are no staff on site at the guest house to deal with these situations.

Small, intimate guest house refurbished tastefully to high standards, all amenities available and extremely convenient to central Florence. Within close proximity to a number of good restaurants, the main railway station and links to the airport. Excellent value for money.

The guest house is just on the corner of Guelfa and Nazionale, and is only marked by a brass plate next to the door.....blink and you will miss it! If you've hauled all your luggage from the station then be prepared for three flights of stairs.

Wonderful little guest house situated in old-town Firenze. Magnificant views of the entire city from the roof top terrace, and a beautiful view of the Duomo and Campanile by night. The accomadation is quite basic yet cheerful, with just a shower-room/toilet and large double bedroom. Also includes air conditioning. perfect for a couple of days, but make sure you eat out as there are no cooking facilities. There is a nice little Cafe just across the street and many more within 2 mins walk. Also you are within 10 mins walk of the Duomo, and the market is on your doorstep, very cheap fresh fruit!

Nice central location. Many steps (3rd floor) to climb with heavy luggage, but I knew about this ahead of time. Helped keep the gelato pounds off!

The roof-top terrace was much smaller than I had expected and could have used some TLC, but otherwise a terrific view of Florence from there.

It was a nice large room with pretty antiques and comfortable beds (we had a quad). One of our extra beds was actually a cot, but not uncomfortable. The bathroom and shower were out in the hallway just across from our room and was clean and modern looking. The Locanda was on a very busy street but the tight windows made it very quiet. We enjoyed the room and its near location to all the sights.

We enjoyef our stay and had lovely weather.
Our only slight problem was the 70 steps up and down each time we left the flat.

We did not see anyone on leaving,so we just left the key in the door of the room.

I was very happy with the accomadations at Locanda dei guelfi. in fact I was going to write an e- mail to Cristina for being so nice and helpful to us. I am strongly going to recommend this place to all our relatives and freinds who are planning to travel to Italy in near future. This place felt like a home away from home.

The location of this place is very nice. It is very close to the train station and all the attractions in Florence. We could grab a cup of coffey or a sandwich till midnight. An additional bonus was cyber cafe on the ground floor of the building nextdoor.

Excellent city centre location but quiet at night. Very clean with good air conditioning and comfortable beds.
There are 69 steps to climb which was not a problem for us but could be.

Only reason they weren't there was I was unable to give arrival time. But a note was left for me to contact and I had no problems - very quick response.

The view from the rooftop terrace is fabulous - we sat basking in the late afternoon sunshine watching the swallows dart around the dome of the duomo. I felt like I was in a remake of 'Room with a view'. The spiral staircase up to the terrace is charming but not for those with mobility problems.

Hard to find the place but everything else was great.

I would suggets to include a shower courtain as some of the water spill out side the tub. Also, I would change the shower as it is not working properly and can not be directed.

It would be helpful if you made clear that there is no receptionist on the premises on a full time basis so that people are not confused if they arrive early. We arrived early and there was no one on site to greet us, since we didn't expect this it caused some confusion for us. We were met at the designated time, however, it would have been better if we had known that no one would be there before that.

bring a flashlight to find your way to the top of the stairs... it was really dark and I just happened to have a portable light with me. there is no elevator for heavy bags.

The initail entry way to accommodation was a little off putting - dingy - but room was comfortable , nice decor and very clean as we expected.

There was no one around at any time during our stay to assist us with queries or questions. The person who checked us in was efficient, brusque, and anxious to depart. While this was sort of OK with us ( we are fairly independent people) I thought it was a little rude and could be very upsetting for some tourists.

A I said , there was no check out procedure,as such. We were instructed on arrival where to leave the key on our departure.
As for value, we got what we expected , looking at website - so there were no surprises.

Clean and comfortable room. Convenient to train station. We went in October - not sure if there was any kind of air conditioning if you were to go in summer!
Don't expect a lot of interaction from receptionist/hostess.

are spacious and well furnished. Excellent
beds!! - probably one of the most important
things. But when you have been out walking
around town, the stairs could make you wish
for better physical condition.

when i arrived i had to wait 45 min in the front of the building with my luggages for somebody to come open the door i had to call this number that somebody left on the door. Call in advanced with your arrival time. it would of being nice if they had an elevator and phone in the room.

The hotel was not appropriately described. The room we had was not like any of the ones in the pictures. There was no window, now drapes and no TV. The large roof terrace was nice, but small. With five people up there it was crowded. Three couples were unable to find a way to turn the light on in the stairway up to the hotel at night. However, the personel we dealt with were very friendly and helpful.

It is not bad for a small hotel. The facilities were not bad, but not completely as portrayed. Potential clients should be made aware that there is no elevator and you will need to carry your luggage up the three floors to the hotel and back down again!! We learned to find out if a hotel has an Elevator!

They do not always have a person on site. We were lucky that the maid was there when we arrived. The manager was called and then came to check us in. It was very neat and clean.

A clean and neat small hotel, but make sure you do not have much luggage. The terrace is small, but does provide some very nice views of Florence.

The reason for no one being present to greet us was partially our fault as we could not give a very accurate time of arrival.
WHile a phone number of where to call should there be no one there to greet us was provided on the door it would have also been helpful to know where a public telephone was located.

The deposit (250 Euros) was not required as stated on the website so we had unnecessarily withdrawn this large quantity of cash.

We were satisfied overall with the accommodation. Some of the furniture was very worn, and we did not have hot water in the shower until the last day. But the space was very good for the cost and it was quiet and well located.

We were woken up rather early for payment on our last day. We would have paid earlier but we did not know how to contact the hostess (she lived in the next apartment but we weren't told that until the end)

It should be made clear that towels and bedding are not changed and how to operate the shower in order to get hot water. Otherwise it was a good experience.

Our trains were delayed and forced to arrive after hours. We finally figured out how to call someone and they came right over.

The bathroom has shower attached to the wall. It was a little crowded. The major problem was the water would oscilate between verry very hot & cold. It stay one or the other for 2 or 3 minutes and switch, with a minute of warm in between. We could not seem to get fresh towels, even whem we left a note. Other wise it was fine.

No one said any thing about check-out. We paid at arrival. left the keys on the office desk on departure and left.

Room was shabby. I couldn't see any staff during the stay..so I had to make a call when there was a problem. Air conditioning and hot water were sometimes not working properly. The location alone(3rd floor of a dark building) makes it not the best option in Florence.
