H & B Hostaria Bibendum - Restaurant & Bar: An imaginative and charming setting. The H & B Hostaria Bibendum is a ritzy, unforgettable locale where the warm, rich tones of the spices found in the souks of Marrakech - scarlet, paprika and gold - are the inspiration behind the choice of the predominating hues; where exotic touches offset the very European décor with a hint of Art Nouveau; where chillout and desert blues accentuate the lounge atmosphere, and director's chairs and umbrellas create a casual atmosphere on the terrace when it's time to relax with a drink.
A warm shade of orange, highlighted by details in black, prevails in the décor and furnishings. The bar counter is set at an unusual angle that cleverly plays on the black elements in the décor and the light from the windows, crystal and mirrors. A striking curtain frames the large lead-glass window, and there are two rare 1930 Art Deco chandeliers shaped like shells from which the crystal droplets hang. |
The second room, where bottles of fine wine and olive oil are on display, leads to the terrace, surrounded by bay trees and brightly-coloured geraniums. Sitting in the shade, busy doing nothing, sipping a cool drink or sampling one of the chef's specialties, guests can glimpse the façades of the late-nineteenth-century buildings in Via dei Pescioni, as well as Piazza Strozzi and the fine rusticated Renaissance palazzo named after it, and enjoy views of other streets where different architectural styles and periods exist side by side: a typical, tranquil Florentine cityscape. |
A traditional yet creative menu The pleasures of the table have been enjoyed for centuries, and creating them requires painstaking care. In the skilled hands of our chef, traditional Tuscan recipes are transformed into creative haute-cuisine dishes, distinguished by great attention to detail. The menu changes every four months, with the seasons. In addition, the H&B offers different menus according to the time of day, starting with breakfast and continuing with aperitifs, snacks, light lunches, afternoon snacks and dinners until the small hours.
The team serving impeccably in the dining room, guided by maitre Andrea Tempestini, is young and savvy, their dark red and black uniforms, matching the décor, topped off by classic French aprons. The H & B is open all day, every day, from 7.30 am until the small hours, with its own entrance in Via dei Pescioni 8/r. |
