By Car: Driving and parking in this medieval and renaissance city with very narrow streets is mainly restricted to residents. You can, however, drive to the hotel to leave bags by following these directions. Since you will arrive in Florence by the motorway, we recommend you take the exit called "Firenze Certosa" because it is the most direct and easy route to the hotel.
Approach the city centre by following signs to "Firenze Centro" towards a big square (Porta Romana), recognizable by the unusual modern statue in the middle and the old city wall to the right hand side. Pass under the arch and drive straight ahead following Via Romana, (which will become) Via Maggio. Cross Ponte Santa Trinita (a bridge over the Arno) and then turn right onto Lungarno Acciaiuoli and drive up to the Alitalia Office, located a few meters before the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). Turn left up the adjacent side-street and left again up the first street you reach, called Borgo S.S. Apostoli. Hotel Allesandra at number 17, will be on your left. Parking can be found in either a garage or a specially designated lot away from the city centre.
From the Train Station: At the train station you can always find taxis. If you don't have heavy luggage you can walk. It's a 10 minute walk.
From the Airport: By taxi. Or by bus getting off at the train station and from there on foot or by taxi. |
