Q.2: of course nobody 'welcomed' us: however, the receptionist was there und gave us the key for the room. That was it.
A smile or an eye-contact would have been appreciated.
...
Our room went to the very busy streed with lots of traffic. The shutters and windows were old, so they did not close and, although the room was on 3rd floor, it was as if the traffic would be just 'in your room'. On our request, the (same) receptionist gave us - without any problem -a backyard room which was very quiet. We were very happy then.
...
As from noon to midnight there was always american coffee available in the hall as well water from a water cooler. And this free of charge.
The 'automat' in the same hall had very low prices for alle usual cold drinks and coffee varieties.
Breakfast was outstanding regarding the choice of fresh fruit: Oranges, apples, strawberies (seasonal), Kiwi,
Bananas, and all in large quantities.

The backyard garden with the palmtrees is very nice and has a limited no. of seating possibilitie.

The room was very clean and the maid very friendly and helpful.
...
If you like good value for your money and in good reach to all the places to see in Firenze; this is the place to go. Not to forget the very nice backyard garden for relaxation.

the garden was a delightful place and made eating breakfast al fresco a memory to be cherished.Rooms nothing special, need an update.
I would recommend the hotel for the garden alone, this is unusual for a 3* hotel in central Florence.

Although very simple, the room was spacious, clean and had a great window with a small balcony and a view of the Piazza di Indepndencia. The garden is fabulous for sitting and enjoying the great weather. A nice surprise was the complimentary, fresh brewed coffee available all day in the lobby. Overall a great and economical place to stay.
...
Helpful. They allowed me to leave my bags locked in a holding area.
...
It is a direct 5 minute walk away from the train station and although it looks a little bit out of the way on the map of Florence, all the main sites are between 5 -10 minutes away. Fresh, free coffee all day in the lobby. A few of the rooms have frescos on the ceiling but most probably do not. Mine was very plain and could have used a paint job, but it was clean and comfortable.

Although very simple, the room was spacious, clean and had a great window with a small balcony and a view of the Piazza di Indepndencia. The garden is fabulous for sitting and planning your day, enjoying the complimentary breakfast, or simply enjoying the great weather. A nice surprise was the free, fresh brewed coffee available all day in the lobby. Overall, it is a lovely hotel in a great location at an economical price. Better than I expected for the price.

Map somewhat confusing as we headed off in the wrong direction and we had to cut through some back streets to find the Via Nationale.
Perhaps locate'Mcdonalds' which is in clear view from the station and this right at the beginning of the road that is that leads to the hotel.
Otherwise excellent.
...
Extremely pleasant and large room overlooking the gardens. Very quiet and dark at night with two different shutters to block out the light. Comfortable stay.
...
No problems encountered. Everything exactly as ordered
...
I did understand that air conditioning would be available at all times; it was not, but was, in any case not needed, as during our stay the room temperature was comfortable throughout.
...
Quiet, calm and spacious, rooms functional and clean rather than luxurious. Pleasant gardens at rear.

Booked through your service a very reasonable price, well placed and ideal for the Pitti Filati. Walking distance both Pitti and central station.

The woman who checked us in was not very friendly, but she was efficient. The other men who worked the front desk were also not very friendly, except for the gentleman who worked the evening shift. He was always there when we arrived back from dinner with a friendly, 'Hello!'.
...
The location of your hotel was fabulous. My brother and I wanted to be within walking distance of the train station and the 'historical areas and restaurants'. We enjoyed the delightful backyard of the hotel. It was a perfect spot to have that second cup of coffee or relax after a busy day of sightseeint.
...
I would let tourists know what a great location your hotel is located in, and how it is within walking distance of famous tourist sites and reknown museums.
...
The hotel was in a great location, clean, and quiet. Also, the self-serve breakfast was filled with abundant choices. I would also tell a friend how delightful the back patio was after a long day of sightseeing.

The hotel is very near the rail station and walking to all major areas of town. The hotel has a courtyard that is the best part of the hotel.
...
The hotel is in a central part of Firenze and walking distance to San Lorenzo market, the Duomo, Uffizzo and the train station. The hotel has a courtyard just off the main via that you do not expect to see, this is worth the stay.

The initial 'triple' unit we were put in was sub-par. The second day we inquired about two seperate units of better quailty.

They accomodated us without a problem. It turned out to be one of the nicest hotels we stayed at during our entire trip. It appears that it is a family run operation and that added to the charm.

No problem. They were great.
...
The breakfast services were very good. They have a garden which the 'old man' of the place is very proud. He should be. It was not expected. Also, the second room we had had a view of the Duomo that was magnificent.

Good value for money taking into account the proximity to Florence's historical center.

very friendly staff, GREAT location. Facilities outside were awesome (beautiful private garden), but facilities inside were not prime. Old, dingy, interior, looks like it hasn't been touched in 30-40 years.

would have been helpful to know that it is literally 1 block from the main market street, I almost didn't book it b/c I wasn't aware it was that close.

the rooms were very sparse and the bathroom terrible - the towels were maded of a table cloth-like fabric which could hold no moisture. The stay was for a birthday and I was rather disappointed. However, the hotel was very central.

We arrived before checkin time and our
reception was very cool. We had a number
of pieces of luggage and were offered no
help whatsoever with getting it into the
hotel or into the storage facility. When
we arrived at the check in time, again we
were offered no assistance with
retrieving our luggage. Nor were we
escorted to our room. Poor service for a
3 star hotel.
...
The general impression of this hotel is
dreary and shabby and in need of sprucing
up. Our room was tiny and threadbare but
we did have a glimpse of the Duomo.
The breakfast, while nourishing and
plentiful was served in youth camp type
surroundings and nothing like the web
photos. The courtyard garden was pleasant
in such a large, busy city but it too
would benefit from some upkeep.
General feeling was one of disappointment
that it did not live up to expectations
nor to our idea of 3 star quality.
...
This judgment may be a little harsh but
it was certainly not what the web site
led us to expect.
...
Shabby, small, unfriendly, but in a good
location.

I had the accommodation stated in the voucher, but not the accommodation promised on the website blurb which referred to a garden side room and double or 'matrimonial' bed. We spent one night in a very noisy street facing twin room before they were able to change us to a garden facing double which also had a lovely view over Florence which made up for it.
...
Please note, thats good value for money for Florence, I might not have said the same if this was in another place.
...
The piazza dell'Independenzia is quite a busy street so either take earplugs or get a garden facing room.
...
Basic and clean, with peaceful garden if you need a retreat from the other tourists. A good base if you are travelling out to other nearby cities and attractions as it is quite near the train and bus stations. We had a room with a lovely view over Florence - being woken by the bells of the cathedral was quite magical, but the street facing rooms were noisy.

Although I realise that accommodation in Florence is more expensive than avaerage, I was a little disappointed in the quality of the furnishings for the price; e.g. the clock on the wall didn't work, the wardrobe didn't shut properly and the furniture was very scuffed. The room was small, the bathroom was cramped and the towels were thin linen not absorbeat cotton. There was no hairdrier or minibar in the room.
However, the garden view was lovely and the air conditioner worked - which was all we needed.
As I say, what I'm used to probably costs more in Florence.
...

You can breakfast in the garden.

No need to bring a car into Florence. Don't pick one up at the airport until you leave.
