Altough they said no staff will be able to assist us at that time, we were able to check in. We got all the assistance that we needed.

They were very nice, when I called them and asked about the price, and they told me, that it is cheaper if I book through this site. I was impressed, that they didn't force the higher price on me.
If you arrive late, when nobody is there, they leave you a note, and with that, you're able to contact them and check in.

A very friendly hotel on the first floor of a normal house. Very nice room, with a fridge. There is parking available in an undergound parking lot nearby, for a reasonable price.

there was a note on the door with excusses that there was nobody there. We could get the keys nextdoor and there was a letter with it

about the breakfast! It was outside that is not a problem when the weather is nice but when it is still cold in the morning it is a kind of unpleasant. I know you can order at your room but being among people is also important. THere was only jam and honey and chocopasta. We would love to have some cheese or meat also.

We arrived late at night, almost before the reception closed, but the receptionist was still spending a lot of time to explain everything - very good.

The Il Palagio is a great guesthouse close to the centre of Florence. The receptionist there was extremely helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English. Overall the best stay during our Italy trip.
However, I did not expect it to be on the second level of an apartment house - it was no problem, but it took us a while to find out that we had to go to that building. The Il Palagio was not well signposted (esp at night hard to see)

The Il Palagio was situated on a main street, very close to a main roundabout, not far from Florence' centre. The guesthouse was situated on the 2nd floor of a large living house. It was very spacious. Passing the reception we went thru a long hallway to get to our room, a large room with quiet air conditioner and tv and ensuite. The ensuite was small but clean. Clean towels were provided. Surprisingly there was no noise from the main street, it was quiet at night. Only a nice view was missing, but we didn't expect that at all. The furniture in the room was well suiting the Florentine style. In the morning coffee was served on the terrace outside. The receptionist there was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. We truly enjoyed our stay and would go back there.

My arrival was very good. In fact, I had to reach Florence 2 days earlier than planned and
the receptionist was kind to find me another place where to stay. That really made a huge difference, since it saved me a lot of inconvenience.
Then when I actually checked in, it was all very pleasant and the person in change was extremely kind.

The following commnet I also made to the staff at Il Palagio, but since you have asked, I am also going to tell you.
At Il Palagio, everything is done by whoever is on duty. i.e. reception, cleaning, breakfast. All was satisfactory, but being a lady, I found that cleaning was a little unsatisfactory, due to the fact that I feel there should have specialized staff to do the cleaning. At least in the bathrooms. For example, one can see fungus accumulating in the shower in certain places (just slightly), but nevertheless, this could be avoided if specialized cleaning staff would service the premises. Or if the existing staff would be specially trained in how to clean a bathroom very well. It is not hard, but the know-how is required. Maybe if they were better trained I am sure they could do it. I pointed out my observation, and they told me they would definetely look into it.
After pointing out this, I would like to say that I will surely stay in Il Palagio in my next visit to Florence as I really liked the location, the feel at home atmosphere and the installations.

The staff was very helpful trying to get a taxi in a rainy day!!! At the end it was not possible , since the tele-taxi lines were all clogged. A friend managed to get a taxi so that we could reach the airport on time.

The little terrace they have is very charming and adds a lot of character to the place.
Although in winter it may not be used as much.

I would describe it as a very nice place that I would definetely recomend.

Unfortunately the elevator was not working on the day we arrived but other than that, everything was great.

Leonardo was great and always enthusiastic to help out with anything from giving directions to suggesting places to stay to providing more breakfast if required. Would strongly recommend this B&B!

We enjoyed our stay. Eventhough it does not look as nice as on the pictures. The beds are not that comfortable, but hey you are on vacation.
Leonardo was very nice, from the moment we checked in. I would stay here again.

The actual floor the hotel is on was hard to figure out right away. I could not tell from any of the signs outside, but the door was labeled well enough.

There was a refrigerator in my room and I wasnt expecting that but I would have like to known ahead of time.

Big room with a thin mattress on the bed. It had plenty of outlets and a fan which was nice because there is no air conditioning.

Bed linens were very sparse. Pillows were flst, mattress was lumpy & blanket was dirty!!

Fortunately (coming from Belgium, a quite long trip!) we arrived before 8 in the evening. I don't know what would be happened if we would have arrived later...

Breakfast is typical 'italian' (only 'sweet' things, but I know, this is typical!)
and the water for the breakfast tea was not hot enough. Maybe this is a detail, but it might be sent to the the Palagio, which is an excellent place in Florence.

We arrive at 1:30am because the flight was 2 hours late. Had to take a bus then a taxi.
We did spend half an hour trying to wake someone, they were notified that we might be that late, but when the night manager did open the door, he was very kind and helpful.

It is quaint and clean, would stay there again.

The direction from the main terminal could be a bit clearer (for someone who take the bus). Where is the bus station? What bus in which direction? Where to hop off? etc ...

The beds are very old and uncomfortable. We had to flip the mattress to make it tolerable, at least psychologically. It is definitely NOT for light sleepers. Also the walls are paper-thin, you can easily hear a conversation in the hallway and in a next room.

It is a so-so deal for someone with a tight budget. We would not return to this B&B because of the unconfortable beds and noisy environment.
