Travellers Reviews

I had some difficulty finding diredctional signs due to overgrown trees etc, but once I found it no problem. It stated in the brochure that it was 200 metres from the bus, it was considerable more than that. It was also on a very steep hill, which may have adversely affected an older or more infirmed traveller, but was no bother to my wife and I. But this situation could have been made clearer. ... We really enjoyed our stay at La Torrecella. The owner was very helpful and friendly, our room was very spacious, and we were free to use all the facilities. Staff were friendly. If ever in Florence again I would certaintly consider it. ... Fast and Efficient no problems ... Be more explicit about the hillside location and the factr that it is more than 200 metres away from the BUS stop. ... A very high quality B & B. Friendly staff with a warm welcome and good facilities. Food was good also. Continental but good.

Our rooms were beautiful. Your help in finding the accommodations was extremely useful as we had never been to Italy. We were able to take a bus into town and enjoy this lovely city. The breakfast was fabulous. We will certainly visit again. ... More information could be posted on how to arrange for the cooking lessons - price possibly. ... Very nice. We would certainly encourage friends to try it.

We arrive later then we expected, because of the flight connections, and they were polite and waiting for us. ... They were very nice without beeing always present, thus we feel like beeing at home. ... Very quiet and friendly place to stay, just near the center of Florence. Much better than stay in a hotel in the city.

We loved the place--the rooms were spacious, clean and fulfilled our expectations of a Tuscan villa. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and were a perfect setting for enjoying the distant views. ... They were very helpful in recommending restaurants, calling taxis, making reservations for museums and restaurants--anything they could to make our visit enjoyable ... I would tell anyone to stay there--it is away from the noise of the city--yet is close to the city. The furnishings were lovely and enhanced the Tuscan atmosphere of the building.

Absolutely beautiful! A quiet location just outside the busy city of Florence. A perfect place for a family or a quiet getaway. The pool was a very welcome addition to the incrediblly hot late June temperatures.

Our party of four ladies had a wonderful stay at La Torricella! ... For anyone with walking problems you need a car or transport as the hill is a little steep but for us it was fine. ... A quiet villa tucked away on a hillside just out of Florence with lovely bedrooms, lovely comfortable beds with crisp white sheets and a wonderful breakfast, Lisa and Leaonardo are the perfect hosts! La Torricella is immaculately maintained a pleasure to stay at. I intend to return soon!

Our stay was WONDERFUL! The owner of La Torricella was very friendly and even cooked us an authentic Tuscan meal one night! The rooms were immaculate, and the property was gorgeous! We had an excellent experience and I would reccomend this B&B to anyone who wants to enjoy Florence from the charming and serene beauty of the Italian countryside.

Entrance off road with specified street number was not the correct entrance for the B&B. Instructions should indicate that entrance for B&B is the first turn after the one with the street number.

Lisa picked us up from the railway station, which was very helpful. ... Very conveniently located. Minutes away from Florence by bus or car, yet very tranquil and picturesque. Great for a first time visit to Tuscany. Also located very close to the main highways through the Chianti region. Rent a car and drive in a leisurely fashion through the wine country.

We had a beautiful room, with a wonderful view. It was kind of difficult to find and big hike up the hill. The rooms are not air conditioned. I do not remember if that was mentioned. The owner of the home, Lisa, is a warm, lovely person and we would definately recommend this place to our friends.

We arrived by train and needed much more information regarding a specific location to find the B & B. Our stay was very nice, however this location is difficult when you do not have a vehicle - we had to walk to a bus station stop everyday including the day we left with our luggage (a little over 1/4 of a mile). ... LOCATION should be better explained for train and public transportation travellers. ... Beautiful but you need a car.

The man who greeted us spoke very little English. Fortunately, my daughter speaks Spanish and so did he, so we were able to communicate through her. ... The apartment was pretty clean although the bathroom had some mildewed grout. We did get shampoo and towels, but the towels were more like napkins than towels. The decor was very simple with little attempt to beautify the rooms. Having stayed at many B and B's, we found the lack of warmth and hospitality to be the most disturbing aspect of our stay. We could hardly find the owners. When we had no hot water one morning, the man seemed somewhat concerned but the woman basically said to 'deal with it.' No warm and fuzzy feeling there at all! At no point were there suggestions/questions about where to go or what to see, although the gentleman was responsive to our questions and pleasant enough. Maybe our expectations were unrealistic because,in the States, the hospitality is always outstanding and very personal at B and B's. ... Communication was difficult again when my husband tried to check out on his own. ... It's more like a hotel than a B and B. ... The location was excellent.

The stay at la Torricella itself was very good. But to get there with public busses is such a mission. It takes about an 1 1/2 h to get from Florence back to the hotel. That was not said in the description of the hotel. That´s the only thing why I wouldn´t take this hotel again. But the hotel itself was really super. ... As I said before. Getting from La Torricella down to Florence is ok with public busses but getting back just takes too long. And this should really be said in the description of the hotel ... Nice!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A lovely property with amazing gardens and views. We had an excellent choice of top quality food at breakfast. Mrs. Manetti's apple cake was wonderful! Our rooms were beautiful spacious and absolutely 'spick & span'. We will have no hesitation in recommending this property to our friends.

The only negative was it is located at the top of a hill. With luggage this is quite a hike, and if someone was visiting in the heat of the summer, it would feel even worse. ... Very quiet and peaceful. After a hectic day in Florence, it was nice to retreat to quiet and calming place.
