B&B La Paggeria, which once was used as the living quarters of the retainers of the Mazzini family, whose villa is next door, dates back to 1850 and is situated in Montorsoli, in the district of Vaglia. This little stone house is framed by the hills and woodland of a typical Tuscan postcard, with the city shrinking smaller and smaller as you climb the road that winds upwards beyond Florence and Fiesole.

The property, converted and renovated during the 70's, is situated at 350 metres above sea level and is surrounded by olive trees, high trunk cypresses, fruit trees and a centuries old cypress which is an integral part of the house. Shadowed by trees and bushes, the tiled pergola and the large terrace overlook the surrounding countryside, and the view can span over Fiesole and the dome of Florence and, on clearer days, as far as the hills of Siena.

With its fireplace and its wide windows, the living room, tastefully furnished with ethnic furniture, leads on to the terrace where during the warmer months one can enjoy an outdoor breakfast. Nearby are the famous gardens of Pratolino and Villa Demidoff, while guests may be tempted to rent mountain bikes or to walk through the woods as far as Fiesole. There is a riding stable a short distance away and Florence itself is fifteen minutes away by car or by the regular bus service.
