It went very well and efficiently. Great experience. ... Very happy and satisfied ... All went well and they helped arrange a taxi to the airport which arrived on time. ... It is directly on the Piazza Duomo, which may be noisy in the summer, though during our stay was fine. Then again, the location is magnificent and we had a balcony with amazing views. ... We had a great experience. Great location, service, large accomodations near all sites. Kitchen very well equipped, vey comfortable, great linens, too! Beautiful views of the Duomo and Baptistry.

The picture for the hotel looked like the entire building was the hotel so that was what we looked for, hence the confusion. The hotel was only one small door of the building. ... The photos were a bit deceiving - things were smaller than they appeared. ... Fabulous views ... Ideal location!! Staff was helpful with questions we had regarding site seeing. Room was like a small apartment. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.

when the staff were on duty, they were extremely helpful. A few suggestions: for two bedroom apartments, two sets of keys should be available. Staff should arrive and depart at posted hours. Because the building is locked after 8 PM, if a guest plans to be back then, but the staff elave and lock earlier, people cannot get in. ... The location is wonderful and the apartments are spacious. The elevator is very small and does not always run. So it is difficult for people with luggage and people like us who are disabled, to access a fifth floor apartment. ... Great location, clean, well maintained, sparsely appointed. I enjoyed staying there.

Our stay was great! The location is central to all of the major attractions, the room was wonderful with one of the best views in town from our balcony. The two bedroom apartments easily accomodated four of us. The staff were friendly and helpful - it was a wonderful overall experience.

The receptionist was very helpful and efficient and sorted all matter out promptly and professionally. ... I had intended to send an e-mail on my return to thank all the Staff. I would certainly return to Palazzo Gamba and have recommened it to several people already. The location and set up are excellent. ... I was surprised despite the web site at how close we were to the Duomo and the centre of town and the markets. despite being in the City centre the aprtments are spacious and quiet with no traffic noise by night or day even though we were at the front of the building. ... I have advised many people to stay there. The property is clean, well kitted out and in a central location and is excellent value for money for a group.

Excellent, just as described. Cristiano was very helpful and polite. Just a delight. ... This was the family's first trip abroad. It could not have been better. I wish we were still there! ... Hassle-free. ... No, other than stressing how close you really are to Il Duomo. You can't be more than 50 feet from such an imposing structure. ... I would say 'It was the best view I've ever had and the Penthouse was the best place I've stayed. If you go to Florence, stay at the Palazzo Gamba.'

Parking lot though it's expensive is well worth the cost...You can pull up to the property and they will take your car to the lot and return it valet to you when you need to check out. ... Fabulous ...We travelled with two children had two huge rooms..the best location in town and lovely accommodations....Wish we could move in...walk to everywhere and anywhere in a few minutes...

Our daughter and geand-daughter waere to meet us there and stayed in a smaller apt. at the facility the night before. They let them move their stuff over to ours before our arrival the following day. We were very grateful for this assistance and flexibility. ... I also had a referral from someone that had stayed there, so knew that they thought the facility was good. ... I would definitely recommend it to a friend. You cannot beat the location, the facility was clean, very spacious bedrooms and the staff efficient. I also really liked the ease of the booking process, being able to use a credit card to secure the booking and not having to wire money or use cash in any of the transactions. The cancellation policy was also a good one and with resonable notice, you could cancel the booking without losing money.

The toilet seat in one of the bathrooms was slipping off and needs to be fixed. This was not serious and I didn't mention it to anyone but it would be a good idea to get it fixed. We enjoyed our stay immensely and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would reccommmend Palazzo Gamba to anyone visiting beautiful Florence. ... The web sight is very good and describes th esight quite well. ... I would refer them to your website and tell them it was very luxurious and good value.

We are very grateful to the staff for going out of their way during our arrival. We were caught in a maze of one way streets and construction, so were running a few minutes behind. The conciege waited for us and even took our car to the garage - wonderful! ... The accomodations more than made up for late night and early morning road noise. By far the most spacious place we stayed in Italy. Our children loved the 'super-high-castle-ceilings' and looking out at the Duomo from the balcony. Highly recommend staying here! ... Breakfast and lunch food available below the hotel and just across the street. A detailed map and better driving directions would be helpful.

The hotel staff member was extremely helpful at check-in and throughout our stay. Check-in was very fast and very easy. ... We loved Palazzo Gamba. It's location was better than we imagined. The accommodations were perfect for us in every way. ... Everything was exactly as I expected. There were no hidden charges or surcharges. ... The elevator is somewhat petite. ... A beautiful apartment in the absolute perfect location to see everything in Florence. The view from its terraces are breath-taking. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The hotel was perfect for my traveling companions and me. The four of us shared a two-room appartment which had a large common area (including kitchen and dining area) for all of us to socialize in and 2 bedrooms and bathrooms en suite. When the description says 'right by the duomo,' it is not kidding! Every time we looked out the window, it was right there, huge and looming in our faces. The central location is perfect for walking to all the sights in Florence, and it is really afforable for all that you get.

Everything about our arrival went very smoothly - we were very pleased with the welcome we received. There is just one comment I would make. It would be really helpful to other visitors if there was the opportunity to pay extra for a late check in. At present if you don't get there by 19:30 then you can't check in. The day we left the Italian air traffic controllers were on strike and the incoming flight was delayed by 3 hours. Anyone staying at Palazzo Gamba on that day would not have gained access as they could not have got to Florence on time. This would be really stressful for someone who would then have to try and find a hotel for the night. ... The property is in an amazing location - the view of the Duomo is breathtaking - and you have a built in alarm clock when the bells start ringing!! We have already recommended this accommodation to friends. ... Definately

Most perfect location in florence. From our wiindow we could see the Duomo on our left, the piazza below us and the bapistry on the right. Everything was in walking distance. never used a cab in 7 days except to get our luggage from the Airport and back ... The refrigerator, stove and hot water were off for a day and we could not get anyone to fix them. The water would not go down the drain after a shower and water would be all over the floor ... There should be an emergency number to call if a customer experiences the same problems as we did. ... Great, but make sure there is a number to call incase of an emergency

We were driving and it was so great to have a smooth transition for getting the car in the garage and my family in Palazzo Gamba. ... The man at the desk downstairs was very helpful with ideas for places to eat, buy groceries and wash our clothes. He was always very nice to talk with.
Our only problem during our stay was not being able to get the oven to work. ... Palazzo Gamba is in a perfect location right next to the duomo. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to see, which made it easy to go home and rest in the afternoons before heading out to dinner.
The rooms were spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the showers were great!

Cleaner was not friendly. We often started our touring quite early and then returned to the room mid day. This was problematic in that the cleaner did not seem to start until late morning and had many rooms to do. ... View out our window of the Duomo was GREAT and a big surprise!

Overall I found the Palazzo Gamba to be an ideal base for exploring Florence, we did request the rooms on the 2nd floor (painted ceilings) but for some reason they were double booked. The found the quality of the accomodation is of a very high standard, comparable that of a good 4* hotel. The kitchen was modern and uptodate, the bathrooms were good, powerful showers and the water was always hot. If I ever need to travel back to Florence then I would certainly consider staying there again.

A slightly negative point was that there were only two sets of keys available for a 3 bed appartment - but this was resolved by us getting our own keys cut. ... We couldn't get the jacuzzi to work. ... THe reception was only staffed 12-19:30, which meant we had to settle our bill the night before rather than on the day of departure - a little inconvenient. ... No ... Wonderful - the best location in Florence. Certainly the one with the best view of the Duomo and the sunsets.

We arrived very late due to and air traffic close down. Christiana had arranged to leave the key with tennants across the street. It was very late but they were more than gracious in delivering the key. We were exhausted! We slept until 4 pm the next afternoon. Our entire stay was wonderful, the service and view could not have been better. We have already recommended it to all our friends visiting Firenze and my traveling partner has already rebooked for Feb 05. Thank you again! ... I would mention that the noise coming throught the upper apartments can be heard. The only real annoyance is when someone is wearing high heels late in the evening or early morning, which was the case with two of the tennants during or 10 day stay. ... Bring earplugs ( which we did) due to the construction ongoing in that area and late nighters. With my ear plugs in I was able to completly enjoy the view and turn out the noise. I would not have wanted to trade the site or view with any hotel in Florence! ... Fantastic with a view that is incomparable!

Looking out from the tall, old windows in our room directly at the duomo was a marvel! We loved the location and the spacious rooms. Comments on the staff are based on the couple of contacts we had with the gentleman at the door, who was only there sometimes. This was not a problem, as we had a key to the street door. ... The view (at least from our room): just a few metres from the cathedral: a stunning sight. ... Reasonable, extremely well located, attractive in the way of a modest European hotel, a very large suite for 3 people with 2 bathrooms: not at all cramped.

All was very clear as to when we had to pay and they let us keep our suitcases in the hotel past the check out time so that we didn't have to carry them around with us until our flight. ... Although I chose 'Clear' for the directions question because all fields had to be filled in,we weren't aware of any directions published online. On arrival in Florence we went to the tourist information and got clear directions. Alberto was wonderfully welcoming and we were thrilled with the quality and the location of the Palazzo. It was our first time booking online so we were a little apprenhensive of what would await us. What a relief when we arrived. Alberto welcomed us by name as we came in the door and everything went seamlessly. ... I said that the property was better than on the website because I don't think pictures can do it justice. the high ceilings with the 'frescoes', the spacious rooms and the amzing view of the Duomo can't really be captured on film. However you did provide exactly what you promised. We did have problems with hot water for the showers. The temperature was warm at best and then turned cold. It was quite cold in Florence while we were there and hot showers would have been an advatage. We spoke to both concierges about the problem, but it did not seem that they were able to find a fix. Only two burners on the stove worked and the oven was not working. The dishwasher was not working properly either. Other than the hot water, these were minor issues that did not impact negatively on our stay. I felt that we may have been one of the first through the apartment and that the details had not been worked out.
... Like the check in the check out was seamless. No unwanted surprises or extra charges. ... Stress the location and the view of the Duomo. Usually when you are told that there is a 'beautiful view' it does not mean that you can practically reach out and touch it. As with most real estate the main selling point is location, location, location. The Palazzo Gamba had this for sure. As we learned, all roads in Florence lead to the Duomo, so you couldn't be better situated.
... The Palazzo Gamba was a wonderful surprise. Although the web site promised a beautiful accomodation, we were a little apprehensive till we saw it. It exceeded our hopes. The staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment was spacious and wonderfully equipped. The view and the location could not have been better. Four of us were able to stay in comfort for less than the price of ONE hotel room. I don't think you could get a better value for your money. As seasoned travellers but first time web booking users, this was a great experience. We would definitely use Worldby.com again and have already recommended it to many people. We hope to take advantage of your service in another European city in the not too distant future.

We arrived late due to a flight delay. The staff of the Palazzo were extremely accomodating willing to stay later than they normally would have in order to meet us on our arrival. Check in was fast and simple and I could not have been more pleased. ... I was pleasantly suprised at how everything was exactly as it was represented to be thru the web site. The location was stellar and the rooms were wonderful. The staff of Palazzo Gamba were extremely helpful and accomodating. I was pleasantly surprised to find we had TWO bathrooms in our apt. That was a wonderful aid to our party of 3 women. I would stay there again and recommend it to others. ... The staff contacted us prior to check out to make convenient arrangements for us to check out while they were available. All was easy and pleasant. I was very happy with Palazzo Gamba. ... The fact that Apartment Vasari has two bathrooms is a plus that should be mentioned. The location cannot be stressed enough. Practically in the Duomo! Gelato available right across the street! EVERYTHING is in walking distance. ... As I already have...Perfect.

all the details of the apartment were explained thoroughly ... The website quite accurately showed Palazzo Gamba. We were pleased with the museum reservations that were set up for us and also pleased that we could leave our luggage the day of check-out so we could get one more day of sight seeing in. ... Despite the fact that there were two other groups checking in, another person asking questions about their stay and our family checking out, the woman at the desk was very professional and friendly throughout it all. She even offered to call us a cab! ... It may mention it on the site, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how complete the kitchen supplies were. Even the dishwashing soap was supplied! ... Perfect location! Amazing view! Spacious and just right for our family of four (including two teenagers that enjoyed having some space of their own).

The only complaint I had was that it was very noisy in the front bedroom, however, it was not in any way the fault of the property - we were in a busy section of town. ... The apartment provided was clean, well furnished, with great views and in an excellent location, very central. It is, however a very noisy intersection for traffic, and it was difficult to sleep at night. We were on the 2nd floor. The noise was less on higher up floors. ... The front desk staff were terrific, highly attentive and friendly, helpful. It is a high quality place, very safe, secure, elegant, and clean. The one thing to mention is that at 7 or 8 pm the staff is gone for the night, so any travellers arriving after that time will NOT get in the building, or get their apartment until the next day, as the front door is locked for the night, keys given in advance to those people staying there. ... It was a beautiful building in a central location, nicely furnished, with frescos on the ceiling, close to everything, well maintained, and a very good value for the price. aside from the traffic noise at night, our stay there was wonderful, and I would highly reccommend Palazzo Gamba to friends and others.

Extremely disapointed upon arrival that our stroller (standard size) could not fit into very narrow lift door. A critical factor in choosing these accomadations was that it had a lift. Was workable, but a rather major pain the whole trip! ... Location and view amazing. There was a bad smell in fridge they could not fix while we were there. Shower curtain too short which left bathroom floor very wet with no extra towels daily to correct. No place in small shower to put soap/shampoo etc. Microwave would be more helpful than an oven. Kitchen very well supplied! Overall very happy with the place. ... I have stayed at Palazzo Gamba several times in the past two years. During my first stay, it was newly renovated. Now I notice that some things are not being cared for. The hair dryers are falling apart and have not been fixed. When I stayed for three weeks, the apartment was not cleaned even once so I bought cleaning supplies and cleaned it myself. I understand that it is self-catering, but for a long stay, there should be a policy to clean the apartment thoroughly at least once a week -- or make cleaning supplies available to the tenants. The price of the apartment is considerable and there were no discounts for a long stay so this seems reasonable. The manager, Cristiano, is wonderful. He was very helpful and always considerate. He is one of the reasons why I continue to return. ... For a few days, the apartment price is very fair. For a long stay, I feel it was high. Next time I would rent an apartment that gives a break after a weeks' stay. ... A nice apartment, perfectly located. Good for a short stay. It was noisy with the ambulance company right across the street and being in the center of town, is noisy on weekend nights. Good management and fabulous view.

In general we had a very enjoyable stay. I'll mention a few minor negatives and some positives:
The bedrooms were smaller than they appear on the website. All rooms were very clean and neat.
The so-called Internet access turned out to be only a telephone jack. I had assumed from the website that there would be an actual connection to the Internet (such as an Ethernet or high-speed connection).
The daily maid service was inadequate (she does very little), and we were limited in towel replacement.
The apartment would be much more convenient if the kitchen were more suitable for cooking, eg perhaps some staples such as sugar, oil, vinegar, paper products.
A second key would have been helpful, since we had two couples and we were not always out together as a foursome.
Otherwise, we found it delightful and we would recommend it to friends. ... A clean and attractive apartment in an outstanding location central to all that Florence has to offer. And it is quiter than you might expoect from the central location (although I hope you enjoy early churchbells!). We would gladly return for another stay.

Upon arrival at 12:30p.m. on 4/7 the front door was locked. Another family was also waiting - I had the telephone # and they had a phone, a call was made and the door opened about 10 mins. later. A little disconcerting since one is not familiar with the language or the area. ... One comment is the frequency of towel replacement. It was supposed to be every three days but because of the holiday, we did not receive clean towels until the 6th day (Easter was the 5th day). We did ask the front desk but were told we had to wait until Monday (the day after Easter). I think towel exchange every two days is more appropriate.
Second comment is about the front desk staff. Yes, both gentlemen were polite but I found them at times passive in terms of giving out information/directions. Not sure if it was a language barrier or disinterest. ... It went very smoothly and we were also allowed to store our bags for the day. ... The view was spectacular and we did not expect that - based on the website, we thought the only room with a view would have been the penthouse suite. We were absolutely thrilled.
... I have already recommended the place to several people. People who have already been to Florence cannot get over the location and view of the Duomo we had from our apt. window.

Receptionist was courteous and polite, but did not offer any more than the minimum of information and help. Inexperienced perhaps ? ... The appartments had been very recently ( August 2003) converted and refurbished so everything was in good decorative order, and the location couldn't have been better. The bedrooms in our 5th floor were comfortable and spacious and there was plenty of storage space. The living room /kitchen was also a good size, but could have done with better lighting and another sofa plus occasional tables to make it really comfortable and welcoming. And why was there no corkscrew ???? One of the showers had a problem with the drain which left an unpleasant smell that was not addressed during our stay, and there seemed to be a reluctance to clean work surfaces. ... Make it clearer which - or all - appartments have views over the Duomo ... Recently refurbished, the tricameral appartment we stayed in offers good, clean, spacious and comfortable accommodation for a family of 4/6 with two bedrooms, two shower/loos ( one on en-suite) and a good sized living room/kitchen with a sofa bed. The location next to the Duomo makes everything in Florence very accessible, and was surprisingly quiet during a still busy part of the tourist season (October half-term). The living room/kitchen isn't quite so comfortable and welcoming as the bedrooms, but if you spend most of your time out, that wouldn't be an issue. The limited number of staff were courteous and generally helpful. All in,while recognising Florence is an expensive place to stay, for the price we paid - especially compared to the accommodation on offer at similar prices in similarly located hotels - the apartment was very fair value.

I asked permission from the front desk to allow us to keep our bags in the unit because our train did not depat until 13:00. He said OK.
Then, the cleaning lady came in and gave my niece a very hard time for being there. (She got back from visiting a sight sooner than the rest of us so was waiting in the unit for our return so we could all go to the train station together. That was the only 'issue' that we experienced...at it was not such a 'big deal' anyway! ... When paying the price that we paid, you cannot possible say it was a 'good value'. We knew that going in...so we were extremely happy being there.
See below for the only issue that we had. ... The views were magnificient. The pictures just do not do them justice! My suggestions would be to take a picture in the evening from a rooftop maybe from via san borgo(sp?) to show just how close the penthouse is to the Duomo. ... great views...beds not too bad...close to everything

We walked from the train station to the hotel and it was confusing as we were only using a map and the streets aren't really marked. Your directions were aimed at approaching by car.
The check-in and check-out hours are very limited and should probably be better specified when the property is secured. ... Check out is required prior to the staffed hours of the front desk. ... See comments about front desk staffing and checkout. ... Wonderful view of the Duomo, spacious room, well located.

Rececption Staff very helpful at all times. ... As it is an apratment, details of location of local supermarket, chemists etc. would be useful. There is a fablous supermarket near the Palazzo Gamba (on the other side of the Duomo)but we only found it towards the end of our stay. A list of receommended restuarants would also be helpful. ... I've already receommended it to several people as an alternative to a hotel. The Gamba is ideally suited for young families.

Cristiano was very helpful and friendly. The apartment was excellent and so was the location.
... Whilst the apartment was generally excellent, the kitchen hobs were not all in working order. A small greeting pack of essential cooking ingredients e.g. salt, pepper, sugar would make the experience even better. ... Excellently appointed apartments in a great location

The accomodations ended up being fine, however, we were told that two of the bedrooms were configured with two single beds each. This was not the case. Therefore, one of our guests had to sleep on the sofa bed for the week rather than have a bed. ... Although there was to be daily maid service, there were several days that we did not have service. ... Front desk is there to accept arrivals from noon until 20:00 hr. ... Outstanding view. Great terraces (our favorite ammenity). Central location. Impossible to get lost (always able to see the Duomo from wherever you are). Spacious Quiet despite the central location.

well run establishment, good central situation, comfortable appartment, but can be noisy because of sirens and buses.
