Accommodations were exceptional as was the location. We had a junior suite. I would suggest clearer directions for arriving at the Relais Uffici by car and the location.

The location is outstanding -- right outside the Uffizi and Piazza della Signoria (where I proposed to my fiancee). It does get a bit noisy sometimes, since there's so many people passing through the area. However, it was never a major annoyance, and did not take away from our experience here. The hotel itself is very clean, and our room was very large. The breakfast had several different options, while the breakfast room had an excellent view of the Piazza della Signoria. We would definitely return to the Relais Uffizi in the future.

Althoug exactly as stated the photos on the site projected a higher standard of decor than we experienced. We have no complaint with the room just the shabby, tired look of the furniture and fixtures. The bath could defininately use an update. The tub/shower is deadly for any but the youngest and lithest among us. Very narrow and very slippery getting in and out and almost impossible standing. Shower head also kept slipping out of the positioning fixture.

Inadequate hot water.Cheap plastic cups,and miniature soaps.Not enough heat in cool weather.ABSOLUTELY NO SHELF SPACE IN ROOM for folded clothes and underwear.Minute shelf space in bathroom.No linenchange for 4 days.We will not come back or recommend it.With all that,the location was perfect.

I would recommend the hotel very highly - the location was perfect, the room was spacious, attractively furnished with all necessary facilities and it was a pleasure to have controllable air-conditioning.
All memebers of staff that we encountered were friendly and eager to help at all times.
From its central location, I might have expected some noise - in fact the room was very quiet.

My only small concern was the 10% discount offered to those paying cash (i.e. those needing to use a card - most overseas visitors? - having in effect to pay more).

The map directions were not UNclear, it is simply the case that the Relais Uffizi is in a hidden arcade that is difficult for even local people to find. We had a fine experience because the cab driver found the entrance, but we have friends who have taken a very long time to find the proper entry.

For Americans, the 'air conditioning' claim is a bit questionable, as the room had some AC, but the halls, dining area, reception area, and reading room did not. We did fine in August '04, but can imagine that conditions in a situation such as the heat wave of August '03 would have been quite unpleasant.

A primary strength of the Relais Uffizi was the staff. They were exceptional -- from their language abilities to their responsiveness to any form of request. Whether giving clues to cultural facets or where to find a shoe repair shop, they were most pleasant and substantively helpful.

Another strength of the Relais Uffizi is its phenomenal location -- right on the Piazza della Signoria. My wife and I found it to be an ideal central site for all of our activities. And it was fun to sit in the immediately adjacent loggia in the evenings and 'people watch.' The location cound not have been better.

We loved our stay but thought some of the people at the front desk could have been friendlier and more accomodating. They would be helpful when asked but would never engage in any conversation about our stay. There was one Italian gentleman who was lovely, the rest just OK. When we checked out we would have appreciated a how was your stay or we were so happy to have you etc. It was all business!!! It didn't seem to fit with the lovely property though the guidebooks did say it was a tad understaffed.

I appreciate the European tradition of putting two single beds together to make a double bed, but it might be good to offer a double bed mattress to those guests who might prefer it. Also, the four poster thing with the bed is a little overdone.
But all in all, it was a wonderful stay made even more memorable by the very helpful staff.

A relaxing oasis in the midst of a very busy area of Florence. Very quiet, no noise from other rooms. Very charming.

I had to get a taxi at 5:30am, at this time the outside door to the hotel was closed. I was concerned about opening it, because it seemed to have an alarm on it. But I did open it without a problem. It would have been good if the staff, who booked the early cab for me, had told me of the procedure for opening the door, when the staff is not on duty.

A small, period building that is cozy and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff and an excellent location. Good breakfast and very pleasant breakfast room and lounge.
Only slight drawback is the hotel is not on a street, must walk a short alley to get to it, but this is a slight inconvenience and adds to its charm.

On our first night there was a sing-along in the neighborhood pub. We drifted off to sleep to the sound of clinking beer mugs and refrains of The Beer Barrel Polka. Which wasn't exactly what we were expecting in the heart of wine country, but a pleasant experience nonetheless.

A quaint little hotel just around the corner from the Galleria degli Uffizi with comfortable rooms, modern bathrooms, a very nice breakfast buffet and an excellent staff. It may not be the easiest hotel to find (print the map from this site because the 'street' the hotel is on was not on either of the maps that we had), but it is worth the effort!

We did hear one American woman carrying on complaining about the room and she was ridiculous which was very embarassing for the receptionist. I didn't enjoy hearing that. We thought our room was great and the web site gave us the information we wanted.

Best position in town with a lovely outlook from the lounge. Breakfast was adequate and the room large and had everything we needed. Our 4 year old daughter in particular enjoyed the princess bed. Her poor father slept in the spare bed just so she could enjoy it. She thought she was in 7th heaven. I think the Relais made our holiday in Florence perfect.

This hotel is in the perfect location. Our room (#5) was had very high, beamed ceilings and was very comfortable. We loved looking out on the Piazza della Signoria each morning as we sat down to breakfast. Alessandro, at the front dest, was very charming and helpful. He met us at the elevator to welcome us and help us with our luggage. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Only complaint would be that if there was any noise going on in the street in front of our room, it was very audible in the room. For the most part, it was quiet, but there were a few hours where the street was filled with children who were all screaming and yelling, and it was very loud.

We had a lovely, large room but with a horrible outlook into a concrete vista of others' windows, pigeon droppings and parked motorcycles. We felt that the room could have benefited from a coat of paint and a little more attention to housekeeping, e.g. hoovering right up to the edge of the skirting boards, clean toothmugs etc. It was a big depressing to see 5 or 6 dead lightbulbs in the breakfast room for most of our stay. Other than that, it was an excellent location, the staff were charming and extremely helpful and these comments simply reflect a need for rather more vigilance in the housekeeping areas.
And of course, the view from the lounge onto the Piazza Signoria is simply wonderful - one is in the heart of Florence the minute one arrives.

The staff were immenselt helpful when my husband discovered he'd left his camera in Venice! He'd left it at a restaurant near our Venetian hotel and the staff at the Relais Uffizi contacted that hotel, who contacted that restaurant and found it. Between them, they arranged for it to be sent on by courier to our next destination in Sorrento. They took time to do this and were immensely helpful and courteous.

Arrival directions not pertinent since we
arrived via taxi. It is a difficult property
to find. The property was satisfactory. I
strongly suspect we got a better room the
last day than we paid for. The staff was
way, way above and beyond our expectations.
Just their help and attitude was worth the
visit there. Also the location was
perfect....ten minutes from everything. We
would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Fabulous. I can't say enough nice things about this hotel. Not too fancy, but pretty, clean, and friendly. The location is almost a joke it is so good. The only problem was the door buzzer, which we heard from our room every time it went off. It seems like they could have it flash the lights or do something less loud after 8 pm.

We had a difficult time finding the hotel, but once there had a wonderful stay. Perhaps if you were more specific about it being accessed from the Piazza Signorina through a small niche between where the statues are and the restaurant, it would be less confusing.

Reception remained open & manned despite our very late arrival

Rooms were clean and much more spacious than is the norm in Italy, although rather old-fashioned in style and decor.

Although the Relais Uffizi is well situated being virtually on the Piazza Signoria, it is half way down a narrow alleyway which is not accessible to motor vehicles. As a result taxis have to park a little way off and the hotel can take some time to find unless the taxi driver knows just where it is and explains to his passengers accordingly.

A useful hotel which is worth knowing about if you need/want to stay right in the middle of Florence.

Property was lovely but we were placed in a room over an alleyway. All night we heard dishes being washed in an adjoining property and motercycles being turned over
for starting. This went on till about 1:30 AM both nights of our stay. Considering that I paid in EUROS I would have expected a better room.
My wife got food poisoning on the second night of our stay at a 4 star retaurant. Your hotel management did everything to aid her distress. That was a plus!!

Liked our accomodations but very unpleasant sewer smells were wafting in the windows so we had to keep them closed. Not much the hotel may be able to do about that.
We did note that whoever parked our car and where ever it was parked, we had a completely scraped hubcap, a dent and numerous scratches along the wheel well on the passenger side (and we paid 56 or 58 euros!) Not happy about that.

Our room overlooked the alley facing the Uffizi. Users of the alley on motor scooters and using roll up metal garage doors were very noisy late at night and early in the a.m. In addition the people making these noises had loud conversations. We were not informed this would be the case and detracted from the value of the room. Any recommendation of this hotel will have to be qualified with these factors.

The receptionist (Alesandro) was extraordinarily helpful and cordial. He is a gem!
The fact that the room was in another building and required 2 elevators or staircases and several keys to get to was a drawback and would be the only reason we wouldn't stay there again. Location was great!

At times there was a moldy smell when we entered the room. As mentioned above, it was inconvient to get to from the reception lobby. But it was large and clean, and the matress was comfortably firm.

We were in three rooms during the stay. Two
were exactly as we expected, but one was
tiny and poorly-shaped.
In addition, all of the queen-sized beds
were actually 2 twin beds pushed together
with queen-sized linens, leaving a crack in
the middle of the bed...

The room was large and spacious but not very sound proof - no rugs to absorb sounds. There was a lot of hall noise as well. The toilet wasn't working when we arrived but was fixed immeiately. The bathroom was not cleaned well (hair & toothpaste on the tiles).

Nothing was too much trouble. The receptionist recommended restaurants, booked our visits to the Uffizi gallery & Acadamia & made us tea in the lounge.

At first we were a little concerned about having rooms close to the reception desk, but this was not a problem during our stay. The hotel was very quiet and we all slept very well. The staff was curtious and we very much enjoyed staying at the Relais Uffizi and have already recommended it to friends who will be travelling there in the summer.

The clerk, Nicolo, couldn't have been more helpful or efficient - he was so nice and made me feel very welcome.

Pretty much the same as your website. When I needed to leave bags with them after check-out time, they were extrememly helpful and got me a taxi when I needed one. Also, when I returned to Florence a week later, not to stay, but to catch a late plane, they let me leave my bags again and got me a taxi to the airport - such a relief to be able to do this and I was very grateful.

Actually it was expensive for what it is, but I am aware that it is in an excellent location, so that and the unhappy advent of the Euro make it so, I imagine. The Euro is a terrible thing for Italy and the rest of us actually.(inflation etc. - ask any Italian!)

It is a very conveniently located hotel, slightly quirky internal arrangement with corridors and reception on the second floor, but was absolutely perfect for my purposes. The staff were extremely helpful and polite too. The quality of the breakfast ingredients could be improved on - such as fresher bread, cornetti etc. and soya milk for those who can't have dairy food, like me.

It's location is not ideal for first-time travelers to Florence.

The room was dark, lamps were dark for reading. Canapy over bed was bumped into on numerous occasions. The air conditioning was totally inadequate. With poor A/c, we had to leave windows open and with no screens, the mosquitos had a feast. The location was very convenient.

Try to get one of your better rooms; the breakfast was not very good compared to other places during our tip through Italy.
