The hotel is lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. The receptionists were very helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect as you can reach everything on foot. We will recommmend the hotel to our friends.

A gentleman by the name of Francesca on the front desk went 'above and beyond' in assisting us during our stay at the Royal. In all of my travels (over 26 years and 30+ countries)he is without question the most professional, and helpful 'public face' of any hotel I have stayed at. It would be greatly appreciated if this could be fedback to his employer as it should be recognised. He was the stand out at that establishment - others he shares his role with were sadly inadequate by comparison.

The room was small but clean with a nice terrace. The man named Fransesco at the desk was extreemly helpfull in recomendations for restaurants. We rented a car, so the parking at the hotel was ideal. I feel for 100 euros a night this was the best deal in florence!!!

The room was nice and clean, but it was the first room on the corridor where all people pass by and therefore very very noisy!!!!!

We were a group of 10 and needed many city maps from the front desk. It was almost impossible to get them. Of course we were able to find maps on the street, but it was the only hotel where we weren´t given enough.
On the other hand we appreciated very much the excellent condition of the swimming pool, as my son suffers from allergy on most of them, and here he had a great time and no allergy at all, what means no excess of chemicals with excellent and clean water.

Breakfast was very poor selection - should include fruit, better selection of rolls/croissants/brioche, yogurt.
Bar was very poorly stocked and staff seemed reluctant to serve from it.
But the Hotel was very attractive, in well maintained garden.

Reception offers minimal advice about tours. Felt at breakfast time we were being monitored about how much food we ate - especially if you an early arriver for breakfast.
Kept very clean. Just more warmth needs to emanate from reception and breakfast areas.

We were grateful for an early check-in.
They had us wait just 40 minutes in the back
garden, before offering us our room! This
was very appreciated, since we had traveled
a great distance...

(softer) lighting. The flourescent lights
were a little harsh, and didn't contribute
to the ambiance.

We asked for two rooms that slept four people each, but because I gave the same name for both reservations, the clerk was confused and only reserved us one quadruple room. He was very accomodating though and provided us two more rooms (to sleep the other four people) for the same cost as quoted in the reservation. We were very very impressed with the service and the quality of the hotel, and have already recommended it to our friends.

As the rooms booked for us were not ready, we got a better room. This one was really comfortable and nice.

The elevator was not working and the possibility of credit card paying was also out of order as we payed our bill.

the web site stated 'a few steps away from the station'.. In fact it was a good 20 minute walk, and we had to get a taxi from the hotel for the return journey.

I thought the breakfast poor: the croissants and bred were dry (even though probably from the same day...). The milk was standing outside too long and got sour and there was no jogurt :-(
