| Cathedral Santa Maria di Fiore, Florence`s symbol with its famous Duomo, stands only 1000 metres from Soggiorno Matilde: the moment you unpack, set out towards it on foot, and on your way you will come to some of the must-sees of the city cradle to Renaissance: San Lorenzo market, the homonymous church and the Medicis chapel are just some of them. Most of the members of the Medici family are buried at the latter: the chapel was begun in 1604, and some of its tombs are made with granite brought from Egypt and green jasper from Corsica. You can also have a look at the San Lorenzo Church, where Filippo Brunelleschi displayed his creativity. |
