Also known as Pensione Matilde, this low budget property is a guest house placed in a building that dates as far back as the 8th century. It is located only 500 metres from Santa Maria Novella Station, only steps from the Medicean district -featuring the Medicis chapel, where most of the members of this family are buried- and 1 km from the Duomo, landmark of the city. Soggiorno Matilde opened as a bed & breakfast in 1999, and last year a complete refurbishing was carried out. Bear in mind that the reception desk is placed on the first floor of the building, where there is another similar lodging (called Soggiorno Guest House Gloria). |
One of the best attributes is location: placed on 17 Via Nazionale, the inn is close to San Lorenzo Market, a really colourful open air market where you can buy food as well as souvenirs for your beloved back home. Santa Maria Novella train station is only 7 minutes walking from the property: once you know the churches and galleries in Florence, you could plan a day out of the city, in nearby locations like Pisa or Siena, for example. |
