| At a distance of 200 metres from the door of the apartment, you will find Santa Croce square, with the outstanding Basilica as its main attraction. Inside this temple you will find the tombs of Michelangelo, by Vasari, Machiavelli, by Innocento Spinazzi, and Galileo, by Foggini and Ticciati. There is also a monument honouring Dante Alighieri. After visiting the basilica you can walk parallel to the river and cross any of the bridges to reach Palazzo Pitti, placed on the Boboli hill. This construction, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, was the royal residence when Florence was capital to Italy in 1865. It was erected in the second half of the 15th century, ordered by Luca Pitti, a wealthy Florentine trader. |
